"No It Isn't (Album Version)" as written by Mark Hoppus and Travis L. Barker....
Please understand
This isn't just goodbye
This is I can't stand you
This is where the road crashed into the ocean,
It rises all around me and now we're barely breathing
A thousand faces we'll choose to ignore

Curse my enemies forever
Let's slit our wrists and burn down something beautiful
This desperation leaves me overjoyed
With fading lights that lead us past the lives that we destroy

I listen to you cry
A cry for less attention
But both my hands are tied
And I'm pushed into the deep end

I listen to you talk
But talk is cheap
And my mouth is filled with blood
From trying not to speak

So search for an excuse
And someone to believe you
In foreign dressing rooms
I'm empty with the need to

Curse my enemies forever
Let's slit our wrists and burn down something beautiful
This desperation leaves me overjoyed
With fading lights that lead us past the lives that we destroy
Please understand

I lay rotting where I fall. I'm dead from bad intentions
Suffocated and enbalmed, and now all our dreams are chased in
You swore you wouldn't lose, then lost your brain
You make a sound that feels like pain

So please understand
This isn't just goodbye
This is I can't stand you

General Commentright, here's my take on the song. obviously its about tom but there's a few lines in it that still require a bit of thought...

    please understand
    this isnt just goodbye
this is i can't stand you
    this is where the road
    crashed into the ocean
(i think this is all fairly self-explanatory, basically an I HATE YOU to tom, referring to blink and how it was the "end of the road")

    and now we're barely breathing
a thousand faces we'll choose to ignore
(the first line i think refers to the period when mark and travis were first told tom wanted to take a break. they were left with nothing to do for six months, bored and holding their breath as to whether tom would change his mind on taking a break. the second line is a reference to several things-the fact that they've let so many fans down by cancelling their shows. they were also due to play a tsunami benefit show before they broke up, so they're just ditching that too...and finally, their crew, who were promised two months of a tour and employment, and then the band broke up)

    curse my enemies forever
lets slit our wrists and burn down something beautiful
(possibly a mocking impression of tom and all that he did. he basically fucked mark and travis over, deciding he wanted a break but didnt tell them. the "lets slit our wrists" part is stating how he caused the break-up, comparing it to suicide almost, and ending something beautiful)

    this desperation leaves me overjoyed
with fading lights that lead us past the lives that we've destroyed
(not sure about the first line here. maybe its mark laughing at tom's idiocy and pathetic attempts, his "desperation", to quit the band, citing family reasons. the second line again refers to the fans and the crew. the "fading lights" phrase seems kinda creepy-perhaps mark hopes that tom is haunted by the people he let down)

    I listen to you cry
    a cry for less attention
(tom wanted to quit to take a break, to spend time with his family and move out of the spotlight)

but both my hands are tied
and i'm pushed into the deep end
("both my hands are tied" is mark showing how helpless he felt and the lack of control and say he had in the situation. the next line is a reference to the fact tom was a bit of a back stabber)

    i listen to you talk
    but talk is cheap
and my mouth is filled with blood from trying not to speak
(mark's said in interviews that tom took control of the band in the last few months, so this could be referring to all the bullshit that he would say. could also be about the hype he made over angels and airwaves. for the last line, think of the fact that many people often say they "bit their lip to stop from saying something" and its obvious that mark's exaggerated this to the point of his mouth being full of blood. he and travis kept an 18 month silence regarding the break up of blink and i think thats what this line is about)

    so search for an excuse
    and someone to believe you
in foreign dressing rooms i'm empty with the need to
(just refers to the fact that tom didnt really have a decent excuse to quit the band but how he still went out after it all happened and talked shit to the media, trying to convince people of his version of events)

i lay rotting where i fall
    i'm dead from bad intentions
    suffocated and embalmed
(perhaps just about the post-breakup and how empty mark may have felt without blink and how tom's "bad intentions" had hurt him badly. he probably didnt know what he was gonna do for a while)

and now all our dreams are cashed in
(another line that is a reference to the end of blink. the dream is over, "cashed in" basically and all they're left with is the financial benefits)

    you swore you wouldnt lose
    then lost your brain
(pretty easy to figure out. mark sees tom's behaviour as madness and irrational)

you make a sound that feels like pain
(i was a bit confused by this one, and i still am, but tom is definately no angel when it comes to singing. as much as i like his style and the fact that he has worked on his voice, he's not the best singer ever! bit of a dig from mark perhaps??)

thats it really, been listening to this song for almost a year and i always was confused by some lines cos they just didnt seem to make any sense in relation to tom and blink, but thinking about them a bit more kinda explains them more...thats my opinion on the song

General CommentThis is actually better than the demo version for a couple of reasons. One, it sounds ridiculously clean now. Two, the "rock" part of the song is extended by at least 45 seconds, and electric guitars were added to definetly make this a kick ass song. Travis is also much nicer on the drums on this one.

One more thing; The line "You swear you wouldn't lose than lost your brain".... that's pretty weak Hoppus, not a good lyric.

General CommentFor some reason, i think the demo version was so much better.

it felt more deep to me. it flowed a lot better to, and wasn't as busy.

General CommentDoes anyone else hear "I lay rotting where I fall" instead of "they're rotting where I fall" ?

General CommentI don't know if I like this version better than the demo version. I think they're both great. The demo version, you can really feel it but this version is still good too because of the guitars and the drums.

And yeah, I agree with Foundation4life, "You swear you wouldn't lose than lost your brain" That lyric isn't really that good... I think it would be better if they replaced "brain" with "mind".

General CommentI personally like that lyric "you swear you wouldn't lose than lost your brain". In some sence i can see what you mean ruinedfirecracker, but I understand Hoppus' as well. I like his more becasue in a way Tom DID lose his brain, not his mind. I like this song.

it's onbiosuly about the Tom. He even said it was abot that in Kerrang!
