They're these terrors, and its like
It feels like as if somebody was gripping my
They're theses terrors and its like
It feels like as if somebody was gripping my throat

Like last night, uh, they're not like tremors
They're worse than tremors they're, they're theses terrors
Like last night, uh, they're not like tremors
They're worse than tremors they're, they're theses terrors

And its like
It feels like as if somebody was gripping my throat
And squeezing and
It feels like as if somebody was gripping my throat

Some say, now suffer all the children
And walk away a savior
Or a madman and polluted
From gutter institutions
Don't you breathe for me
Undeserving of your sympathy
'Cause there ain't no way that I'm sorry for what I did

And through it all
How could you cry for me?
'Cause I don't feel bad about it
So shut your eyes
Kiss me goodbye
And sleep
Just sleep

The hardest part is letting go of your dreams

A drink for the horror that I'm in
For the good guys, and the bad guys
For the monsters in our beds
Three cheers for tyranny
Unapologetic apathy
'Cause there ain't no way that I'm coming back again

And through it all
How could you cry for me?
'Cause I don't feel bad about it
So shut your eyes
Kiss me goodbye
And sleep
Just sleep

The hardest part's the awful things that I've seen

Sometimes I see flames and sometimes
I see people that I love dying and, it's always

Just sleep
Just sleep
Just sleep
Just sleep
Just sleep
Just sleep

Wake up
Wake up
Wake up
Wake up
And I can't, I can't ever wake up

    Song Meaning

Actually, The song was written for Frank by Gerard. The whole hotel thing is true. It is actually Frank talking in the beggining, If you listen closely. Frank was having nightmares of people he loved dying, and he felt things at his thoat. Gerard wrote the song for him to help him go to sleep. How sweet XD

    My Opinion

To me this song seems to be comparing real life to the horrors of Sleep Paralysis, which is probably what Frank was experiencing at night in the hotels. When in sleep paralysis you experience horrible things because your body begins to get scared and starts to make things appear in front of you while you are awake that should be in your dreams. Sometimes it can feel like you are dying because it is painful at times and other times you see horrible and disturbing things. Sometimes when you hear a loud noise or somebody moves your body you can wake up from sleep paralysis, thats what I picture the WAKE UP at the end being.

I dunno if I am right but that's what it seems like to me.

    My Interpretation

Is it possible that the lyrics are from the perspective of what he dreams of, from the terrors themselves? Just an idea.

    Song Meaning

I always thought that this song had to do with the war or wars in general. If you imagine that he's talking about being drafted off into you know, WWII or Vietnam and knows he's going to die, or "sleep" forever. I always interpreted the voice on the tape recorder a soldier talking about being attacked by a terrorist and seeing people attacked and killed, maybe being terrified by it. I like the song better if I imagine it's about war. It's got a great meaning if you read the lyrics thinking about war. Try it.

there are several songs on this album relating to being in a hospital, on his deathbed. sleep, dead, the end, cancer. last night i watched a rerun of thier preformance of the black parade in mexico. he said it was the last preformance of the black parade they were ever gonna do. after the last song he shouted 'the black parade is dead!' that saddened me. ive heard haters say that but hearing gererd say is crushingly saddening....

When the band was recording this album at The Paramour in...Los Angeles, I believe, Gerard would have these night terrors when he was trying to sleep. The band also said that they felt like dark spirits in the house were trying to stop them. The voice at the beginning is Gerard's, discussing exaclt what would happen to him when he had the night terrors.

Night terrors makes me think of that Simpsons episode... "SNAKES!!! THE SNAKES!!!" cough But yeah, I agree with katiekutthroat89, that's basically what it's about. I don't see how it fits into the whole concept of The Patient going on that journey thing, though.

Gaz, that made me laugh really hard. Just putting that out there.

I guess I could kinda see how this would fit in with a patient journey...but...eh...it's still kinda hard. I agree with B12, and besides, I think it's kinda best for us to leave it up to our imaginations. I love the parts with Gerard talking about the night terrors (SNAKES! SNAKES! AH!) at the beginning.

You know at first I thought this song was about terrorISM- I have no clue how I got that but I did.

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
