"Rise of the Pentagram" as written by Paul James Allender, Daniel Lloyd Davey, Charles Hedger and Dave Pybus....
One dark afternoon like a shadow I flew
Through the rain that fell sick with lament
To this house of incest for when we undressed
Blasphemies against Venus were rent
Though her sister removed, her wet body approved
The parade of my heavenly quests
Yet all tongues are not true, some are forked or askew
Like an uncivil serpent's at best
For oustered from Eden I fausted all reason
Hook in mouth like saint Peter Pan
To haunt faery groves and hot virgin coves
Wherein the promiscuous swam
I elected lovers and rejected others
Mephistresses that don't give a damn...
But in those that still do my deep interest grew
The rise of the true pentagram!

General CommentIs this promoting Incest? I just got Thornography yesterday, it's great! they've changed a little but in a good way to where they're not fucking up and they're not repeating the same sound. Bravo CRADLE OF FILTH!!! on a job well done!

General CommentYes! Go have sex with your sibling NOW!

I dunno Thornography still hasn't really grabbed me in the same way that Midian or Nymphetamine did...

General CommentI could be wrong....but I think it might be refering to Adam and Eve rather then just straight up incest.

General CommentThornography to me, is cradle of filth coming into their last leg of the band. Seriously, how much can Dani's vocal chords take. Good thing he gave them a rest on this song. I was waiting on them to do a bad ass instrumental. Doug Bradley sounds cool doing the intro.

General CommentDefinitely, Thornography is one of their greatest albums, musicwise. They are exploring new sounds, more melodic riffs and vocals etc. Remember that speed is not everything you know. Lyricwise, i would have to say: Dusk and Her embrce and Midian.
But don't get me wrong, all their work kicks ass.

General CommentNothin' says lovin' like slammin' your cousin.

Anyway, think it has to do with Eden and the pursuit of heavenly ascension through sex. It's an old myth, similar to a lot of what Cradle refers to quite often.

And yea, Midian is my favorite album. Damn Cradle's good. :p

General Commentwhile i like the actual song, i dont like the cd in general and i think this intro is just dani trying to show off his vocabulary. look at the intro for a while, it doesnt mean anything.
