"Getting It Wrong" as written by and Mark Linkous....
Set your woods on fire
Hide up in the spires
The flames kept dancing higher

They're playing our song
They're playing our song
They're getting it wrong

Ophelia in the creek
Caught up in the sticks
Somethings can?t be fixed

They're playing our song
They're playing our song
They're playing our song

General CommentAfter Mark Linkous' suicide on March 6, I started listening to this song again. A lot. I find it ironic that the lyrics "Ophelia in the creek / Caught up in the sticks / Some things can't be fixed" saved me from doing something stupid a few years ago, and now they fit Mark's death so well. Amazing song; I can't decide whether it's resigned or sad or angry or just an observation: it's very noticeable when beautiful things are destroyed. "Set your woods on fire" sounds like a reference to self-sabotage, or is it just about cutting losses for the observer? Ambiguous and beautiful.

General CommentThis is such a unique songs. Very cool. The reference to Ophelia (of Hamlet) drowning in the river makes the song seem very sad and down to me. It seems like the world has just gone and ruined something very beautiful and it won't be coming back.

My OpinionI always thought it was 'caught up in the styx', as it would then have the amazing meaning of Ophelia drowning in the very river she would travel down after dying.
