"I Wanna Go Back" as written by Daniel Smith Chauncey, Monty C. Byrom and Ira Walker....
I was listening to the radio
I heard a song reminded me of long ago
Back then I thought that things were never gonna change
It used to be that I never had to feel the pain
I know that things will never be the same now

I want to go back
And do it all over again
But I can't go back I know
I want to go back
Cause I'm feeling so much older
But I can't go back I know

I recall hanging out on Friday night
The first slow dance
Hoping that I'll get it right
Back then I thought I'd never ever stand alone
It used to be that a lonely heart was never shown
I know that things will never be the same

I want to go back
And do it all over again
But I can't go back I know
I want to go back
Cause I'm feeling so much older
But I can't go back I know

Can't go back

I can't go back

I know now that things will never be the same

I said
I want to go back
And do it all over again
But I can't go back I know
I want to go back
Cause I'm feeling so much older
But I can't go back I know

I want to go back
And do it all over again
But I can't go back I know
I want to go back
Cause I'm feeling so much older
But I can't go back I know

I want to go back
And do it all over again
But I can't go back I know
I want to go back
Cause I'm feeling so much older
But I can't go back I know

No, No
And do it all over...

General Commentwho hasnt wanted to go back in time and change things or do things better. This song sums up my high school
and college years perfectly. I had many mistakes with women, sports, school and relationships with parents and friends. love this song.

MemoryMy teen years were in the 70's and I graduated in '79. I was with the love of my life for 2-1/2 years. She was my first love in every sense of the word and I only wanted to marry her and spend the rest of my life with her...then one day out of nowhere, she broke it off. My life was truly shattered. Anybody who says, "you can't have real love at that age", clearly hasn't experienced true love at that age.

This song always made me think of her. Us coming of age. Learning together. Innocent and in love. Those were the best times of my life. My heart would ache for the rest of my life...

After 40 years we reunited about a year ago. I learned why she left. We picked up where we left off and we are still in love after all those years. I'll get to grow old with the only girl I've ever really loved.

General CommentA song that many of us can relate to. Everybody has times where they wish they could go back to and do something all over (or differently) in their lives. High school? College? Going for a girl?

Man, there are so many times i've f'ed up with women. Don't worry, I'm learning from my mistakes.

General CommentWhen I think of the past I realize I never give 100% of myself to anything. I am married & live a decent life (own my own house have nice cars , all that crap) But from my time in School & my time in the military to relationships with others I have always given minimum effort. Don't know why I'm posting this here, but something about this song made me think. Now if I can only find the motivation to try harder to do better. This should be a song.LOL

My InterpretationI interpret this song to mean yearning to just go back and relive the happy, innocent and unjaded times in our past. Not necessarily with regret for past mistakes or decisions, but simply because we enjoyed those moments.

You are having problems at work, the bills are overdue, you are drifting apart from your spouse... whatever the problem is, big or small; you just want to leave them, you just want to go back to a time when you didn't have these current problems. But all you can do is wish to go back because you know you can't go back.

MemoryIn your youth, you don`t realize they are the best years of your life. My parents were young and I was immersed in my youth and carefree. I had a zest for life, dreams and so many friends. Cruising the main strip, all the hit songs were on the radio. Parties at the lake. Life was good. Now my parents are gone, I`m divorced and getting old. This song hits the nail on the head. I try to tell young people to enjoy their youth, but I don`t think they understand. Yes, back then I never thought things would ever change. I would go back in a heartbeat, mistakes and all. Getting old sucks.
