In regards to the meaning of this song:
Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.”
That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.
and translated in englais:
Find Me A Boy
so many friends that I happen to see
have been steadily falling in love
oh how I wish it could happen to me
and I'm asking the stars up above
won't you find me a boy, just a nice looking boy
who will show me the way, who will teach me to say
"I love you, yes I do", and who'll promise me too
that he'll always be true, so that I'll never be blue
I just wish for a gentle boy
someone who's sweet and kind
just a nice sentimental boy
that's all that I'm really longing to find
so many friends that I happen to see
have been telling me all about love
oh how I wish it could happen to me
is the only thing I'm thinking of
so I'll find me a boy, just a nice looking boy
who will show me the way, who will teach me to say
"I love you, yes I do", and who'll promise me too
that he'll always be true, so that I'll never be blue

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve.
The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future.
Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere"
The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.
but but.... that translation is completely wrong!
Yup. It is. Oh well. I haven't heard it but I want to!
This is a cover of the original by Francoise Hardy. You can find this at automaticjoy.com
Best. Song. Ever.
wow.. the translation was way off.
Here is a rough, but more accurate translation:
Tout Les Garçons et Les Filles (All the Boys and Girls)
All the boys and girls my age Take a walk in the street, two by two All the boys and girls my age Know that this is to be happy Their eyes on their eyes, hand in hand They leave in love without fear of tomorrow Yes, but me, I walk the streets alone, soul in pain With no one to love me With no one to whisper “I love you” In my ear All the boys and girls my age Plan their futures All the boys and girls my age Know well what to say Their eyes on their eyes, hand in hand They leave in love without fear of tomorrow Yes, but I walk the streets alone, soul in pain Yes, but I have no one to love me My days like my nights Are all similar, without joy and a lot of boredom Oh! When will the sun Shine for me? Like the boys and girls my age Will I soon know what it is to love? Like the boys and girls my age I wonder when that day will come My eyes on his eyes, hand in his hand I will have a happy heart without fear of tomorrow There will be a day my soul is without pain And I will have someone that loves me.
Aside from the wretched translation, it is, as Ms. Palmer states, a song about being lonely. Ah, the pains of being by oneself.
i love songs written in french. i like the way i can listen to it and feel it was written for me.
But now I am curious as to where the translation came from. I wonder if it's an actual song.
i'm sure whoever "translated" origanally just used a translator becuase i got C's in French and could translate it better =D But this is in fact a delecitably delisous song (god i can't spell)
