And now a minute is trapped
It fell into a crack
Eleven tries leading the way
and then foresight comes

I've lost my sense of it all
The feelings I can't resolve
Circumstances outside convention
And you know I tried
To be part of life

[Chorus]
I found the rest of me
I was beaten on down
Emptiness set me free
I lived on a cloud
The walk through the storm was like a holiday
I happened to have been warned
Over and over again

The sense of speaking dissolved
Words meanings I couldn't recall
And all I'd found did my losing
I was tough to find
Playing games with my mind
Up the drops that I climbed
In the abyss I was hurled into
By who I brought back into time

[Chrous]
I found the rest of me
I was beaten on down
Emptiness set me free
I lived on a cloud
The walk through the storm was like a holiday
I happened to have been warned
Over and over again

WHY HAS NO ONE COMMENTED ON THIS? I don't want to analyze or publicly dissect this because I love it and it has special meaning to me and that's that.

I'm pretty sure the title and lyrics refer to "Śūnyatā", or "Emptiness" in English. Buddhists say Emptiness is a spiritual realization in which leads to enlightenment. buddhanet.net/cbp2_f6.htm

Heaps of John's lyrics refer to different beliefs in Buddhism. I've started noticing this a lot lately since reading about Tibetan Buddhism. I don't think John Frusciante has ever called himself a Buddhist but it looks like he's pretty into some of teachings.

The nothing that he put himself through, set free the chains that held the self he was, Inside of the emptiness he was formed, though it is a trail by fire

Maybe he tried his hardest to be apart of the world but in the end he broke down and lost his mind and himself. Inside that bleakness he found a freedom beause it disolved the former person who he was. This place he went to was very destructive and they told him he might not come out

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
