I had ducked out of the rain
Into Maria's wedding day
And I sat there with her friends
And with her family
And I was happy

I wasn't someone they'd invite
And I didn't know the groom
Nor know the bride
But when I stood next to her brother
For the photograph
He was laughing

Take another picture with your click, click, click, click camera

Sure, I've got pictures of my own
Of the people and the places that I've known
Here's one: I'm carrying your suitcase
Outside of Alphabet City

But in someone else's life
Where Maria is a wife
I'm on the mantle in the corner of the photograph
Smiling pretty

Take another picture with your click, click, click, click camera

Are you tired of where you've gone?
And you think you might belong
In a moment when you step out of the rain?
And you've ended up in someone else's frame?
And their memory now is never quite the same
And they never even asked your name

Take another picture with your click, click, click, click camera

It's definately about finding worth in your life. He talks about how you do make all these little impressions on people's life. For instance that family will probably wonder who he is for the rest of their lives when they look at that picture. So to say you can find meaning in your life through those seemingly trivial events.

I've always wondered if I'm in the background of anyone else's vacation photos, and if anyone out there has ever wondered who I was. It's weird and yet reassuring that I might be out there on someone's mantle, or in their photo album, hanging out, and they'll never know who I am, and I'll never know I'm even there.

I took it be about a guy who has recently been dumped by his girlfriend. His life is going downhill so he ducks in from the rain to a wedding. He doesn't actually know the people at all, but has a good time and in the end winds up in the wedding party picture. The part about the picture on mantle I thought was like no matter how horrible his life ends up, there will always be that picture of him happy, in someone else's life. I could be wrong, I am a fairly depressing person so I might be making worse than it is meant to be.

This song reminds me of that part in the Great Gatsby about the guy who stayed at at Jordan's (i think hers) house forever and didn't even know the bride or the groom although he claimed he did.

i see this as a story of coincidence, perspectives, and the everlasting record of photographs. He just happened to drop in to the wedding and met people he will never see again. And even though the picture remains on their mantle they don't know who he is because he was of no importance to them. still without a title he has altered their lives by dodging the rain into a wedding.

    this song makes me happy.

the idea of being captured randomly happy in someone elses life is nice.

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

Cajun Girl
Little Feat
Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”
