I feel the city breathe at night
Beneath the stars and meteor lights
And I've got nothing to lose

Drink up, drink up
Drink up the loneliness
Drink up, drink up
Drink up the loneliness

The streets outside, they burn with light
But I am dead on the inside
I think these pills are to blame

Drink up, drink up
Drink up the loneliness
Drink up, drink up
Drink up the loneliness

And I got romantic ideas
But they're not meant for you
And my bed's filled with black roses
To show that our love is through

I hope the fire licks my lips
And pulls me close against the wrist
This town will go down in flames

Drink up, drink up
Drink up the loneliness
Drink up, drink up
Drink up the loneliness

And I've got romantic ideas
But they're not meant for you
And my best feeling, black roses
To show that our love is through

Like a broken mirror, they're pieces of me
Like a broken mirror, they're pieces of me
They're pieces of me
They're pieces of me now

Drink up, drink up
Drink up the loneliness
Drink up, drink up
Drink up the my lonely
Drink up the my lonely

Drink up
Drink up the loneliness

    My Interpretation

Yep im with the idea that this has nothing to do with a girl, but faith again. This is in response to Rapture(which is the city in Bioshock :D!) After he realizes how little believing has gotten him, he just numbs himself with drink after drink, then of course escalates to drugs(like laureline said, its a slang term for crack! which is, in fact, wack..) All the stuff like the black roses, and our love is through, is just an allusion-using the love and relationship with a girl to symbolize his former faith. which is very cool! check it:

    1. all the time wasted on a girl: the time wasted sittin in church
    2. all the hardships they went through: all the thing done for the religion
    3. the commitment with the girl: all the commitments to a church(baptism)
    4. the promise that she would always be there: the church promises the same
    5. she is supposed to be able to fix any of his problems, to console him: that is exactly what religion is for-to console people and offer them something else.

SO- he compares being betrayed by a girl he loveed to being let down by his faith. Pretty fuckin sick.

~This is another great song off the album...

~But this particular song almost seems its abotu a few different things.

~when he mentions "But I am dead on the inside I think these pills are to blame"

~ I think he is reffering to how he felt when he was taking anti depressents, and how he felt so alone

i feel like this song is about after the realization of someone not feeling the same about you... you get drunk and "drink up the loneliness" in an attempt to get past it, which inevitably doesnt work.

Yea its that feeling u get when you try and get over something. The alcohol or drinking is the metaphor for his lack of faith. From that point on his guilt comes back

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
