"Baby Come On" as written by and Travis L/hoppus Barker....
She's a pretty girl. She's always falling down
And I think I just fell in love with her
But she won't ever remember, remember

And I can always find her at the bottom of a plastic cup
Drowning in drunk sincerity
A sad and lonely girl

Quit crying your eyes out
Quit crying your eyes out and, Baby come on
Isn't there something familiar about me?
The past is only the future with the lights on
Quit crying your eyes out, Baby

And she said,
I think we're running out of alcohol
Tonight, I hate this fucking town
And all my best friends will be the death of me
But they won't ever remember, remember

So please take me far away, before I melt into the ground
And all my words get used against me
This sad and lonely girl

Quit crying your eyes out
Quit crying your eyes out and, Baby come on
Isn't there something familiar about me?
The past is only the future with the lights on
Quit crying your eyes out, Baby

Quit crying your eyes out
Quit crying your eyes out and, Baby come on
Isn't there something familiar about me?
The past is only the future with the lights on
Quit crying your eyes out, Baby

Isn't there something familiar about me?
Quit crying your eyes out
The past is only the future with the lights on
So quit crying your eyes out, Baby

General CommentI think (just my thoughts) that "The past is only the future with the lights on" basically means, things we can see that we have done, with the light meaning us being aware of it, being able to see it sort of like memories. So the future is in the dark because we cant see what happens yet. The only differance between past and the future is being able to see. Lol im finding it quite hard to explain!!!

General CommentIt's not "such a pretty girl."

It's just "She's a pretty girl, she's always falling down."

And I know this for a fact, it was on their website.

General CommentWhenever I here this song i think of a girl who this guy really wants to have and go with, but she has a major drinking problem so he cant even get to her because shes always so drunk that she doesnt even notice. Everytime she flips out while drunk he is there to make her feel better but she doesnt connect that hes the one whos always there for her. In the second verse shes telling him all these things and and asking for her to take her away from all the people that she knows but he knows that after tonight she wont even remember who he is

General CommentTo me this song is completely based off of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind,if you havent seen it its a movie about two lovers named Joel and Clementine who break up and cannot deal with the pain of the memories of the other person so they have their memories erased of each other but Joel is consious while the erasing is taking place and I believe its in this state that the song is written. here are some examples:

"Shes a pretty girl, shes always falling down"
In the movie there is a scene where clementine and joel are laying in bed and she asks joel if he thinks shes pretty and discusses her low self esteem from childhood to which joel kisses and reassures her she is pretty.

"I think I just fell in love with her, but she wont ever remember"
Joel falls back in love with Clementine after getting past the bad memories but she has already had him erased from her memory so he knows theres nothing he can do.

"Find her at the bottom of a plastic cup, drowning in drunk sincerity"
Clementine is frequently shown drinking, even crashing Joels car which let to their breakup and a scene where she is drunk at a restraunt and starts going off on joel in public

"Quit crying your eyes out baby, isnt there something familiar about me?"
Joel is struggling to get Clementine to remember her

"The past is only the future with the lights on"
basically saying our past will better help us understand the future and make things easier for us to get through in the long run

"So take me some place far away, before i melt into the ground"
Clementine tells Joel in the movie to hide her in his dark memories so she doesnt get erased

"before all my words get used against me"
at the end when they are listening to the tapes of the negative things they said about the other

Thats just how I see it but hopefully anyone whos seen this movie can understand where im coming from and for anyone who has it i extremely recommend to go see it is amazing. Great song :)

General CommentI love this song. I think its pretty self explanitory? Pretty much all about forgetting about bad things in the past, & moving on from those things.
The man/boy has met a girl. He loves her, or at least thinks he does. She's quite messed up, & tries to forget about her past through her drinking. However, all he does is remind her of someone from her past, bringing things back to her, & making her... well, cry her eyes out.
& he's basically telling her really... to get over it. To move on... I think.
    Does that all make sense?

Oh, & theres only minor changes to the lyrics:

    She's such a pretty girl
    She's always falling down
I think I just fell in love with her
But she will never remember, remember

And I can always find her
At the bottom of a plastic cup
    Drowning in drunk's insanity
    A sad & lonely girl

    Quit crying your eyes out
    Quit crying your eyes out
    Baby, come on
As if theres something familiar about me
The past is only the future with the lights on
Quit crying your eyes out, baby

    & she said;
"I think we're running out of alcohol
Tonight, I hate this fucking town
And all my best friends will be the death of me
but they will never remember, remember

So please take me far away
Before I melt into the ground
And all my words get used against me"
    A sad & lonely girl

    Quit crying your eyes out
    Quit crying your eyes out
    Baby, come on
As if theres something familiar about me
The past is only the future with the lights on
Quit crying your eyes out, baby

    Quit crying your eyes out
    Quit crying your eyes out
    Baby, come on
As if theres something familiar about me
The past is only the future with the lights on
    Quit crying your eyes out
as if theres something familiar about me
    Quit crying your eyes out
The past is only the future with the lights on
Quit crying your eyes out, baby
