This is one of my favorite songs. https://fnfgo.io
I'd be lying throught my teeth if I told you
That I'm ok
When July came I thought I had it all together
Til' you said I need some space
Truth be told
It's so hard to wait
With one eye on the clock
And one on the phone
It's 5:19...
I'm feeling alone
And if I could talk to you
I'd want you to know
I'm holding loose
But ain't letting go
We both know that I could think myself dizzy
Right now I'm spinning around
I know you said, "baby, don't worry"
But I miss you right now
I said I, miss you right now
With one eye on the clock
And one on the phone
It's 5:19...
I'm feeling alone
And if I could talk to you
I'd want you to know
I'm holding loose
But ain't letting go
Baby, take all the time you need
I just want you to know
I'll be here, waiting
With one eye on the clock
And one on the phone
It's 5:19...
I'm feeling alone
So if I could talk to you
I'd want you to know
I'm holding loose
But ain't letting go
(x2)
That I'm ok
When July came I thought I had it all together
Til' you said I need some space
Truth be told
It's so hard to wait

No Surprises

Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.

“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it.
“I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.

they're at least on a break... she says "baby, don't worry"
normally when you're broken up, the pet names disappear. he wants to tell her that he's not trying to smother her, but he isn't ready to give up on their relationship.
great song. i love his style.
he misses his girlfriend.
i think its about his gf broke up with him and he misses her. I can totally relate to this song but my bf broke up with me and i miss him.
basically he's saying he's still getting over his relationship (he's talking to ex girlfriend) and that hes not fine about everything and he still has hope that she'll call and he's saying ill be here my door's always open, i'll never turn you down
very cute if you ask me ;]
i think its about the girl wanting to take a break. and saying "baby dont worry" like she'll be back. he wants to give her the space, but he misses her and he wants to be with her. hes trying, but hes going crazy.
gotta love the dave barnes back-up vocals
My favorite song of the summer. I'd have it on repeat and listen to it over and over and over.
I think it's 5,19 am. when no one's awake, your problems and worries amplify.
Alright, I've been to 2 of Matt's amazing concerts and this song is meant exactly the way he puts it down. Its to his girlfriend. He is waiting for a call....that will inevitably end his relationship. He'd be lying if he told her he was ok. They got together and he thought everything was perfectly fine, but then she said i need space. (In another one of his songs "Capitol City" his girlfriend moves, so maybe she moved because she needed space.) He's saying truth be told, its so hard to wait for her to get her space and come back and also its hard waiting for her call. With one eye on the clock and one on the phone shows that he's waiting for her call. He's feeling very alone because in a short while he will be. He's gonna keep loving her but not so much. he already worries and over thinks but now he's going WAY over the top on worrying. He knows she said dont worry but he's missing her and he's scared to be without her. Baby take all the time you need in calling/getting space, but he will be there waiting for her, because he loves her.
Matt says "The album also meant a lot to me personally–it was written and recorded during my first dating relationship since college, and much of the album followed the progress of the relationship. “5:19” was written on July 7, 2005, at 5:19 p.m., while I waited for the phone call that would inevitably be the end of that relationship. "
but i just miss you right now, i said i ..i miss you right now. :(
