"Already Gone" as written by Edward Sloan and Mitch James....
I will not leave a letter nothing at all
I'm sure you won't notice that I'm even gone
I wont break this silence we've shared for so long
I will be strong

I will not leave a letter nothing at all
I'm sure you won't notice that I'm even gone
Why did I stay here stay for so long
When we're so far gone
I feel so stupid taking this fall
I should have seen it known all along
I won't break this silence we've shared for so long
I will be strong

What could you possibly want from me
Can't you see I'm already gone
Everything we thought we'd be
I still don't feel sorry for this loss

I will not waste a moment thinking these thoughts
Forgetting comes easy
I never cared at all
Hurt became hate now I'm feeling the strain
There's just too much pain
Falling to pieces get swept away
Left all our pictures some to fade
I won't break this silence we've shared for so long
I will be strong

What could you possibly want from me
Can't you see I'm already gone
Everything we thought we'd be
I still don't feel sorry for this loss

You don't have to say anything at all
I wont stop you from walking away
I'll do nothing at all

General CommentI always though this song was about suicide - I mean, the lyrics alone would probably make a good note. While it could also be about relationships and such, I think that context fits better with Never Coming Home, rather than Already Gone.

General CommentThis song means the world to me
it's helped me through all the sh*t ive been through recently and if it were'nt for Crossfade and their meaningful lyrics, i, i dunno where id be!!!

most likely living in a hole or else doing some really random crazy stuff!

all in all, this song i believe portrays how so many people leave things behind; whether that be a friend, family, a loved one or their own souls. sad yes, but this song brings forth all there is to know about how many people deal with losses and grief and how anger can overwhelm ones feelings and make them close off the world around them.

also, here in the lyrics, Crossfade makes the point:
"What could you possibly want from me
Can't you see I'm already gone
    Everything we thought we'd be
I still don't feel sorry for this loss"
meaning that because someone left something/someone, they cannot understand why they are wanted back when they were rejected before.
petty and simple, id recommend this song be played at my funeral; or else really loudly to cover up the sound of me crying...

    depressed?
    you could call me that

Don't let it get you down... it may be tough now, but just keep listening to Crossfade and other great bands and seek comfort among your friends and/or family.

    This song is absolutely amazing...
It hits my right in the soft and unprotected part of my mind. Maybe it's because of the situation I'm into now... I'm not depressed, but I got some pretty fucked up things on my mind. But "I will be strong" It won't get my down!

This song as you said about people who leave things behind and the influence on the people who have to deal with them. It can be a leaving or dying friend, a object or message or even a loved one, who suddenly left or got lost. The people who have to deal with it, all deal with it a diffrent way: some get depressed, some get mad, and others don't know what to do without it/him/her.
But Crossfade wants to tell you that it hasn't be your fault that they left and that you should't blame yoursel for it. Just say: FUCK IT!! What can you possibly want from me! You rejected me first and now you wan't me back.... no way!

    Simply amazing...

General Commentthis song makes me want to cry. it's great, just sad. the meaning of this song goes deeper than any of us could explain, but yet it's a situation we can all relate to.

General Commentmmm. Crossfade's new CD is just amazing. I absolutely love it. They went from kickass rock to something with so much feeling. It really makes me wonder what the band went through to be able to perform these songs and write these lyrics. If you liked this song, check out all of the other ones on the Falling Away CD. They are all equally amazing.

General CommentThis song reminds me of me and an ex of mine.
After we broke up, he kept trying to get back together. Ignoring that and not giving in was the hardest thing i ever did.

General CommentHm...awesome. I lubb it. Relates to me a lot. Reminds me of the guy that I used to love. He...told me that he loved me too. But...he never made anything happen. Was always ignoring me and never completing his promises. Then I realized that he was playing me along. Thinking that I was gonna be there. And me...being the fool...I didn't want to let go. So...I kept giving him chances. And he kept letting them go to waste. Until one day...I couldn't take anymore. And I let go. Since he realized that I was gone...he started panicking. I was already gone. This song...gave me so much inspiration to actually let go. It gave me the strength. That's how much this song means to me. So...the song pretty much explains it all...the guy gets tired...and so...they finally realize that they're already gone. So much to make me feel better =]

General CommentThe greatest thing about troubled relationships are the songs they produce. I think we've all had the experience of knowing it was over long before we were ready to stand on our own, or willing to admit it (Seriously, how many on-again off-again relationships ever come to anything?). And not just BF/GF relationships. With family (Have ever told your Dad you're already gone?) or at work ( I once walked off a job got on my motorcycle never to look back when my boss said my mom was hot one too many times). The silence too can be after the break-up (like music_obsessed09 said) or a continuation of the lack of communication from before (With my relationships, the first sign of break-up is when we stop talking).

Basically, I love this song 'cause it embodies what I WANT to feel when I break-up (I'm already gone, I will be strong, I don't feel sorry) while hinting at what I really DO feel (Hurt to hate, I'm feeling the strain [How can you feel the strain if you really don't care?], I feel stupid, the tone of the song, etc.)

In the words of the verve pipe.. I'm just a jerk.. but a hero's what I wanna be!
