It's just like him
To wander off in the evergreen park
Slowly searching
For any sign of the ones he used to love
He says he's got nothing left to live for
(He says he's got nothing left)
And this time I think you'll know

You're not alone
There is more to this, I know
You can make it out
You will live to tell

She's just like him
Spoiled rotten confused by the life she's been fed
And she's searching for no one (but herself)
Her eyes turn to green
And she seems to be happy
That she is her
And this time I think you'll know

You're not alone
There is more to this, I know
You can make it out
You will live to tell
You're not alone
There is more to this, I know
You can make it out

(Aah aah aah aah aah aah aah)
(There is more to know)

We're not alone
There is more to this, I know
You can make it out
You will live to tell
(So tell me)

You're not alone
There is more to this, I know
You can make it out (make it out)
You will live to tell (live to tell)
You're not alone
There is more to this, I know
(And I can) you can make it out
You will live to tell

You were not alone
You're not
You're not
Alone

basically what the song is saying that, whatever youre goin thru, finding yourself, overcoming suicidal thoughts, lookin for someone, w.e, its been done before and there are lots of other people who are goin or went thru the same thing. what youre goin thru is not impossible and can be done.

You know, in highschool I used to be really into emo music, then I went to college and completely got out of it. But the thing is, sometimes I play my emo music, and songs like these always help me out when I am in a bad mood.

I think its because sometimes when you are going through a bad situation, a lot of times your friends tell you, oh that sucks, or even give you advice. But what you really want them to tell you is, your not alone, you can make it out, have courage, I am there with you. And when you dont have people tell you that, that is when you have bad thoughts. I just think that this song does that really well, telling us the things that we not so want, but NEED to hear... That we aren't alone, and that we can strive out of this terrible situation.

    Thanks Saosin.

    My Interpretation

I think this song is about two people in separate situations that both feel like no one shares their feelings. The boy has probably lost his family or close friends when he says wander off in the evergreen park. Slowly searching. For any sign of the ones he used to love". This could very wellbe a graveyard or something of the sort. The chorus tells him that others feel the same way and can deal with it so he can too. The girl is over protected by her parents who don't want to expose her to the rest of the world, but that stops her from finding herself. She is jealous of everyone else because "Her eyes turn to green" green equalling jealousy. The "you will live to tell" means that they will not commit suicide over their problems and live to tell about how they realized that they weren't alone

I love this song. It really hits hard. This has definately helped me through some tough times and it still is. Anytime I'm feeling crappy, I just sit alone in my room in the dark and cry to this song. Sounds lame, I know.

This song has a very broad message about hope, but there is perhaps a deeper meaning about where people choose to derive happiness. There are two distinct characters; a male and a female. The first character is in search of something because he has nothing, or he is searching to regain what he once had.

In contrast, the female character finds herself discontent with her privileged existence. She realizes that she is tired of living for herself. She is alone because of her greed ('her eyes turn to green'-'green' being a classic symbol for envy, greed and sickness). Both characters alone.

The first character would find comfort in understanding that he is not alone in his plot in life, while the second character's problems would be remedied if she realized that she wasn't the only person on earth.

Two characters, two very different sides of the same loneliness.

When i was going through a hard time, i wish i knew about this song. The meaning is pretty obvious. When i was suicidal i thought i was alone, and that no one thought the same way i did. But i guess i was wrong. Just like the song says, "you're not alone". <3

It surprises me that no one thought of seeing a theme in green. The boy is in the park, where are those he used to love? Tell me, did they forget him? Are they consumed by the world, the videogames, hiding from him, he is not looking for them...or even: did they die? Either physically or spiritually? He is not looking for them, he is looking for a sign, their love for him. He is alone, but remember the park is green.

Then there is the girl, spoiled, rotten, the lies: this life is about pressing this button to get that feeling. Chasing a life of pleasure, hard to get but easy to get, used, never treated with the love she was hoping for, but her eyes struck the park. The park is green, that fills her eyes with GREEN!!! Not just green, but the person in the green. They are looking for true and real love that doesn't fade, that doesn't keep them alone. They might be even looking for God, may I, eternal Being, eternal gift of Love.

It could as well be two souls, it just reminded me in a way of this painting series: the poem of a soul. And...here it is 1 person, but in the painting the person journeys, NEVER ALONE

I enjoy this song about 10x more than the others seeing how the others are either early-release or revamped versions of other songs, or bits of other songs were used to make a certain song.

But this song, completely new. Sadly it doesnt sound so much like Saosin anymore. Hopefully Beau and Justin will change that with the next LP/EP.

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Midnight
Ed Sheeran
“Midnight” is a song about finding a love that is so true that it provides a calming feeling through every storm. Ed Sheeran reflects on his good fortunes in landing someone with such peace and support and speaks of not fearing the dark days because he knows they’ll all end in the safety nets of her arms. “Well, good morning there / What a way to start the day / With everything laid bare,” Ed Sheeran sings in the first verse, enthusiastic to be waking up beside his woman. He apologizes for missing her calls in the second verse and promises to return them because for him, speaking to her is the most important thing. “Well, I get lost inside my head / In this chaos, you’re my calm / And I will find my feet again / ‘Cause еven the worst days of my life will always еnd / At midnight in your arms,” sings Ed Sheeran in the chorus, revelling in his good luck.
