"Taking Control" as written by and Stacy/dupree Dupree....
When we get down
If we get down
We'll get up again
And we won't take it if you won't take it

You've been taking control of our lives
And you've been making us go
You've been taking control of our lives
And we won't take it if you won't take it

If we get down
When we get down
We'll get up again
And we can take the right way out of here
I'll be sure to show you again

Can you find it
Hiding inside

You've been making a joke of our lives
And you've been making us go

General CommentThis song is of course about somebody like a pushy leader or a monarch ect. taking control of the peoples lives and they've declared that they have had enough of the person taking advantage of them.

    General CommentWhen we get down
    If we get down
We'll get up again, we'll get up again
    And if we get down
    When we get down
We'll get up again, we'll get up again
And we won't take it when you won't take it, oh no

You've been taking control of our lives
And you've been letting us go, ooh whooa, oohh whooaa
You've been taking control of our lives
And we wont take it when you wont take it, oh no

    And if we get down
How should we know if we'll get up again?
    We'll get up again.
And we can take the right way out of here
I'll be sure to show you again
Then we won't take it when you won't take it, oh no.

You've been taking control of our lives
And you've been letting us go, ooh whooa, oohh whooaa
You've been taking control of our lives
And we wont take it when you wont take it, oh no

    ohh whooaa oohh whooaaaa ooohhhhhhh

I can't be the one to finally pull you out again, out again
But we won't take it when you won't take it, oh no

You've been making a joke of our lives
And you've been letting us go, ooh whooaa, oohh whooaa
You've been taking control of our lives
And you've been letting us go, ooh whooa, oohh whooaa
You've been taking control of our lives
And we wont take it when you wont take it, oh no.

You've been taking control of our lives
And you've been letting us go, ooh whooa, oohh whooaa
You've been taking control of our lives
And you've been letting us go, oohh whooa, oohh whooaaa
(I can't be the one to finally pull you out again, out again. No I can't be the one to finally pull you out again, out again)

General CommentI kinda listened to the song like a boyfriend in a relationship who is in a downward spiral (drugs, alcohol, self-abuse due to problems or whatever) and it is being reflected in the relationship as it is suffering because of it. The girlfriend is trying being positive and advising him to fight through it all with her help, but if he doesn't put in the effort, she won't be able to do anything and their relationship could surely crumble. But, the criticizing the current U.S. administration also sounds plausible to me, too.
