You were hard from the start but you got a good heart
You were aching in your head when you say "it's time for bed"
But you know me better than anyone
And I know you and what you want me to do
We can make it better,
make it better

So you frame that picture that i knew you never took
And I ask you again to take a second look
Right in the mirror cause i see you so much clearer than you see me
We can make it better
We can make it better

You ask in me in a letter if ill meet you there someday
I say hey maybe sometime i may
But as for now, I'll stick with the warmer weather
This is the last time we'll be together
Let's make it better
Let's make it better
We can make it better
Let's make it better
We can make it better

General Commentthe name of the song's called "make it better," not "we can make it better." i've loved this song and this band for years, who woulda thought something like this could've come from YARDLEY, haha.

but yeah, this song is, in my opinion, is about trying to reconcile with a parent who they either never spent time with as a child, or just doesn't get along with them. regardless, i don't this parent wants him to make music for a living. here, i'll prove my point.

You were hard from the start but you got a good heart
You were aching in your head when you say "it's time for bed"
But you know me better than anyone
And I know you and what you want me to do
    We can make it better,
    make it better

    - Even though he/she hasn't been the best father or mother, they still are his parent. But, he doesn't want to do what they want him to for a career.

So you frame that picture that i knew you never took
And I ask you again to take a second look
Right in the mirror cause i see you so much clearer than you see me
    We can make it better
    We can make it better

    - I think the first line is to show how the parent was absent.

    General CommentIdk how you see:
You were hard from the start but you got a good heart
You were aching in your head when you say "it's time for bed"

Little hard from the start but you got a good heart
Little aching in your head when you say "it's time for bed".
