"Orange County" as written by Glitch, Jimmy Harry, Mimi Jakobson and Stefy Rae....
He drives up to her house
She tells her momma goodbye
She jumps into his car
Their kiss lit in the radio's light

And they're gonna fall in love tonight
Underneath the Orange County sky
They sleep on the beach
Until they see the morning come
Life was over before it begun

We still got our MTV
Jay-Z and Gwen Stefani
Tivo for my sweet sixteen
And prepaid AT&T
The things that we think we need
For our American dream
We're so perfectly Orange County

She has a baby coming
He quits school to get a job
She stays at home alone
Thinking where have the good times gone

And they're gonna fall in love tonight
Underneath the Orange County sky
They sleep on the beach
Until they see the morning come
Life was over before it begun

We still got our MTV
Jay-Z and Gwen Stefani
Tivo for my sweet sixteen
And prepaid AT&T
The things we think we need
Now that 2 become 3
We're so perfectly Orange County, Orange County

Where have all the good times gone?
And she says,
Where have all the good times gone?

And they're gonna fall in love tonight
Underneath the Orange County sky
They sleep on the beach
Until they see the morning come
Life was over before it begun

We still got our MTV
Jay-Z and Gwen Stefani
Tivo for my sweet sixteen
And prepaid AT&T
Marc Jacobs and Gucci gear
We'll pay it off in a year
Credit cards to pay our debt
So why aren't we happy yet?
Old pictures of you and me
When we were young and were free
And memories so perfectly Orange County
Orange County, Orange County, Orange County

General CommentObviously, it's about teens losing their innocence too soon. I really really like this song--it has so much truth to it. It makes me really sad just listening to it. She has an amazing voice!

General CommentI think the song is deeper than the meaning written by mydevotedlove. Yeah, it's somewhat about that but it's more about how people in liberal places in this nation, such as Orange County California, believe money is supposed to cure all your ills and bring you happiness.

They find out what they've been taught by those they look up to on television, Jay-Z and Gwen Stefani being used as examples in this song, are not living the life that brings you happiness. But by then it's too late to fix things and you have to pay off debts with credit cards. Actually putting yourself into more debt.

These lines send out the clearest message of the meaning:

    She has a baby coming
He quits school to get a job
    She stays at home alone
Thinking where have the good times gone

General Commenti've lived in the OC my whole life, don't be too quick to judge what people are like there.
just hope you know that =]

this song makes my gut go into knots.
it's a great song because it's very true.
some people are like what you said Z1z, but not all of them are like that in OC.
