one just one and then I'll go
Though it's on the cards that an argument is imminent I know
But its not like I'll get carried home
It's just that I believe that she don't think i think of her when I'm on my own so
Don't think that I don't need
Our nights with the TV
They're so dear to me but sometimes I like to lose control
Just one more I promise then I'll go
Now I don't want a scene and have you screaming down the phone
You should know the only one I know
That will make me laugh with the little things they do is you
And only you alone so
Don't think that I might be
Thinking that I might leave
You're so dear to me but sometimes I like to lose control
Maybe Saturday we'll go out and do something you like
Til that day arrives you should know you're mine
Don't think that I don't need
Our nights with the TV
They're so dear to me but sometimes I like it on my own
One thing I know, when I go my heart stays at home
Though it's on the cards that an argument is imminent I know
But its not like I'll get carried home
It's just that I believe that she don't think i think of her when I'm on my own so
Don't think that I don't need
Our nights with the TV
They're so dear to me but sometimes I like to lose control

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve.
The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future.
Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere"
The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version.
Great version of a great song,

“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.

There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
trying to convince them that your heart can stay at home is pretty hard but it can, the Rifles said so!!
