Open up your heart
And let your demons out
Open up your heart
And let your demons out

I've been waiting, waiting, waiting for you
I've been waiting, waiting, waiting
Yes it's true

Gather up your words
And realize your worth
Gather up your words
And celebrate this birth

I've been waiting, waiting, waiting for you
I've been waiting, hesitating
Yes it's true

I can't throw it away
I can't for another holiday
I can't throw it away
I can't for another holiday

Open up your heart
Open up your heart
I've been waiting, waiting, waiting for you
Hesitating-tating, waiting for you

I can't throw it away
I can't for another holiday
I can't throw it away
I can't for another holiday

I can't throw it away
I can't for another holiday
I can't throw it away
I can't for another holiday
For another holiday
For another, another holiday

General CommentI didn't really pay much attention to this song until one day it was playing in my head. I didn't recognize the song as it was in my head. As the chorus played, I thought to myself, "Holiday!" and ran to my computer to play it. It's definitely one of my favorite songs now.

When I began to question my faith one winter, this song really helped me cope with my agnosticism. I was so passionate about my faith, yet couldn't ignore the questions I had to face. It wasn't so much fear of losing an afterlife, yet fear of losing Someone I had come to love so dearly. I had to "let my demons out" and explore my religion and the sciences. I had felt so close to Him for such a long time, and then suddenly, He was slipping away from me. I was young and alone, and I began to worry that this Love I had been "waiting for", my only true friend at the time, was never coming. And as the light in my heart started to die out, I was determined to try to hold on for Christmas, to celebrate the love for what was left. "I can't throw it away, I can't for another holiday." That's one way I connect with this song, losing your religion.
