"Numbers" as written by and Karl/huetter Bartos....
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8
I don't wanna be a number
Just like being a prisoner
I just wanna stay free
Don't wanna be a number three

Oh, I don't wanna be a 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8
Signing on the dot
Got my name on the form
Thought I had it made
They treat you just insane

Oh, I don't wanna be no 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8
You are just a number
And I ain't got a name
You are just a number
And I ain't got a name

Sitting in a prison cell
Numbers on the chest
Age is just a number
Mummy does know best

Oh, I don't wanna be no 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8
You are just a number
And I ain't got a name
You are just a number
And I ain't got a name

1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8
I don't wanna be a number
Just like being a prisoner
I just wanna stay free
Don't wanna be a number three

Oh, I don't wanna be no 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8
You are just a number
And I ain't got a name
You are just a number
And I ain't got a name
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8

General CommentSometimes I'll randomly start speaking in the voice in which this song is sung. People why I'm creepily couting in German.

General CommentSimple, yet amazing! I've heard sooooo many rap songs bite this drumbeat. Yet, I can't blame them at all

General CommentWhich languages are those? I can see german, italian, japanese, english and, in a version I´ve been listening to, french. But in what languages are those numbers "adjin, dva, tri" and "li, tva, tri"?

My InterpretationA simple song, counting numbers from 1 to 8. In numerous languages. With a simple yet compelling beat that defies perceived simplicity. I suppose using 0 through 7 would have gone over too many peoples' heads...

    Sesame Street would approve.
