"Nothing Left to Say But Goodbye" as written by Chris Cornell, Brad Wilk, Tim Commerford and Tom Morello....
Just like a rescue of a stray dog in the rain I was
Hungry when you found me
And you could tell by my tail and my rib cage what was
Once around me

I've been chased by a rain cloud
I was lost and nearly drowned and kicked around
But now I'm found and I won't run away

Bless your heart you gave me a home and a new start
And I will leave you never
Sleep at your feet and stay guard at you're front door
I will keep things together

I've been chased by a rain cloud
I was lost and nearly drowned and kicked around
But now I'm found and I won't run away

I killed myself, threw away my mental health but nobody was blinking an eye
Backyard, basement, falling on the pavement
Nothing left to say but goodbye
Nothing left to say but goodbye

It's true I ran away before but be sure
I am no tail-chaser
I know a good thing when it throws me a bone
I'm you're best friend forever

I've been chased by a rain cloud
I was lost and nearly drowned and kicked around
But now I'm found and I won't run away

General CommentThis is about somebody who has time and time again been through failed relationships and eventually hits rock bottom, but was saved by a new lover. The speaker insists that no matter how many times he has failed and how likely it is that this one will fail too, he will fight to keep it together.

This idea seems to be communicated through Cornell's comparison of the situation to the rescue of a stray dog; someone who could not fend for itself and was saved by the good of another.

General CommentWow, after listening to the new album, I have a different favorite song every time...this just may be it. The guitar during the verses is amazing, this sounds like a gem off of Soundgarden's Down on the Upside album...no, scratch that, this is a an Audioslave gem...Audioslave are so good, I think it's about time we stop making comparisons to their old bands.

General CommentWhile I agree with Runningace18's comments about the failed relationship, I actually like to believe that this is a song sung in a first person account of an actualy dog. When listening to the song, I actually find it quite touching. I like both ways, but listening to the song sung by Chris as though he was an actualy dog singing to his master makes it grow on a whole different level.

General CommentThat's the beautiful thing about Cornell's lyrics; in almost all cases they can be interpreted correctly in many different ways and take on many meanings.

General CommentThis is the only song on Revelations that Cornell completely wrote himself.

General CommentConsidering the recent breakup, maybe Cornell wrote this song with the bands demise in mind.
