"Rain" as written by and Darryl Pearson....
Ah, it's a happening thing
And it's happening to you
Full load and thunder
Ribbons of blue
Ice on the window
Ice in my heart
Filling with Thunder
Every time we start

[Chorus]
Its been raining for so long,
Its been raining for so long.

Or is it a wonder
The streets are dark?
Is it any wonder
We fall apart?
Day after days strange rain falls down
All over town rain coming

[Chorus]

Don't you go out in the rain
Don't go out in the pouring rain
If you go out in the rain
We never have that time again

Is it any wonder the streets are dark
Is it any wonder we fall apart
All these feelings and seems so wrong
Our ever memory were so strong
Well its been raining for so long
Its been raining I can't go on

Don't you go out in the rain
Don't go out in the pouring rain
If you go out in the rain
We never have that time again

Don't you go out in the rain
Don't go out in the pouring rain
If you go out in the rain
We never have that time again

Don't you go out in the rain
Don't go out in the pouring rain
If you go out in the rain
We never have that time again

General CommentOne of the greatest come back songs ever. I feel like it's about a relationship that's not meant to be, expecially when Marc sings 'Fooling with thunder, every time we start' and 'Isn't it a wonder we fall apart'
Regardless, a great song. Wonderful to belt out at the pub with your mates, too.

My OpinionI think you might find this song is about Herion addiction, considering they were all herion addicts interpretaions of these lyrics are only my opinion

"Well it's a happenin' thing, And it's happenin' to you"
Everyone is doing it, its the cool thing to do and now so are you

    "Full moon and thunder"
When there's a full moon its usually followed by thunder when its raining, it rains alot in the UK so many stay in doors

    "Ribbons of blue"
Ribbons can be defined as a plastic form of cord, blue a street word used back in the day for some of the purest herion to hit the streets which caused a large amount of overdoses.

"Ice on the window, Ice in my heart"
Condensation on the windows either from the weather or the ice getting smoked inside (Ice: street word for crack herion in rock form that can be smoked), in my heart the love for the drug

"Fooling with thunder, Every time we start"
Fooling around with death/overdose everytime they take a hit

"It's been rainin' for so long"
We have been doing this for so long, rain also has a connection to having lots of money or access to it.

"Don't you go out in the rain"
dont try this stuff, rain in street terms can also mean a small amount off people moving heaps of drugs.

"Don't go out in the pourin' rain"
dont lose yourself on this, it can get pretty heavy

"If you go in the rain, You never have that time again"
Overdose, could lead to death or something else could happen

Rest of the lyrics pretty straight forward. The song was a comeback song after a 4 year hitaus released in August 1983, main songwriter Paul Hewson died 18 months later from a herion overdose...guess he went out in the pouring rain :(

    Still a great song
