"One and the same" as written by Chris Cornell, Brad Wilk, Tim Commerford and Tom Morello....
Well they don't hate you, you know they love you
But they're gonna come kill you
They don't mean you any harm
It's just what they do
Could be you're mother
Could be you're father
Or you're best friend in the world

But just like blood and rain,
Love and pain are one and the same (One and the same)
Just like blood and rain
Love and pain are one and the same (One and the same)
Yeah, yeah, yeah

You wear a mask with a target
Keep your enemies closer
You fall in love from a great height, now the easy part's over
Choose you're battles, not you're soldiers
You know they'll show their colors

But just like blood and rain
Love and pain are one and the same (One and the same)
Just like blood and rain
Love and pain are one and the same (One and the same) hey, hey, hey, hey

Just like blood and rain
Love and pain are one and the same
Just like blood and rain
Love and pain are one and the same (One and the same)

It's like blood and rain
Love and pain are one and the same (One and the same)
Just like blood and rain
Love and pain are one and the same (One and the same) hey, hey, hey, hey

Hey, hey, hey, hey
Hey, hey, hey, hey
Hey, hey, hey, hey
Hey, hey, hey, hey

General CommentThe lyrics have some mistakes!! The message in this song is pretty clear! If you love there are times you get pain! And be careful who you trust! Especially in the lyrics:
    Choose your battles
    not your soldiers
You're never sure of their colours, I think he's saying that you should try to reach your goals no matter how you do it because the world today isn't really going to care how you did it! Or maybe that you shouldn't rely on others to help you reach your goals!!!

General Commentoh forgot to say first i thought it's Rage (really reminds me of sleep now in the fire). then "be yourself" and finally when solo started "Doesn't Remind Me". MASTERPEICE. i can swear it would be single.

General CommentThis riff actually reminded me of 'show me how to live' from their self titled cd

General CommentGod I love this song, he has some really great vocals. The chorus is just a badass rhyme.

And of course the meaning is pretty obvious, you can't have love without pain.

General CommentSimply put, all love that begins must end one way or the other, and the result of that ending, more often that not, is pain.

Good song, one of my favourites, and definitely something different from Audioslave.
