Somewhere sunshine burns
A dark but common horse
When he fell by the wayside
No one seemed to notice him

'Cause you're no good to us
Lost all your youth & all of your usefulness
& you know that
No good to us
Lost all that you could to a no
No good to us
Lost all your lost all your youthfulness
& left with a precious little good
Good to us lost all that you could to a no

Bring me the workhorse
Bring me the no good workhorse

'Cause you're no good to us
Lost all your youth & all of your usefulness
& you know that
No good to us
Lost all that you could to a no

No good to us
Lost all you youth all of your usefulness
& who told ya
No good to us
Lost all that you could as a workhorse

No good to us
Lost all your youth all of your usefulness
& who told ya
No good as a workhorse

General Commentthat is on the surface she is talking to a horse... I'd imagine it's actually a metaphor, describing some character as a workhorse, but the details I'm not sure of.

General CommentThis song was really awesome in concert. Slightly comedic. "Pop, pop...get your shoulders into it."

General Commentyeah, a horse that is too old to be used for any real purpose. probably on it's way to a glue factory.

    lovely song!

My InterpretationThe lyrics in this song make me think of slavery, as she talks about a 'dark workhorse', who fell by the side of the road, presumably of exhaustion, and then she goes on to talk about how they've lost all their youthfulness, and therefore usefulness - a slave too old to work? Useless!
However the analogy could be considered fabricated as the lyrics could literally be referring to a workhorse, who you can kinda consider slaves anyway ;D
Great song, love the moody atmosphere and as usual, stunning vocals.
