Be still, blue night sky
As my heart dies to be on your side of the glass tonight
I can’t help imagining the sound of crashing to the ground

FDR at 8 AM
An empty airport
My only friend, y
You always back down, without a doubt
So, wipe that smug grin off your face
It’s not the time, nor the place
No matter what you say, you can’t convince yourself this is the right thing
It’s not the right thing

One last chance I reject your call
The plane it banks
We begin to fall
This is the best dream I’ve ever had

As long as we are choosing sides,
I think its only fair I have the right to make the first round pick
And you should know that you’re still it

So be still, blue night sky
As my brain tries to believe these lies I was fed tonight
And I can’t help imagining the sound of crashing to the ground.
And be still, blue night sky
As my heart dies to be on your side of the glass tonight
I can’t help imagining the sound of our love lost and not found
And not found

So be still, blue night sky
My heart, my heart dies
Be still, oh blue night sky
As my heart dies to be on your side of the glass tonight

General CommentI think he just ended a relationship for an unmentioned reason, and can't decide whether or not it was the right thing to do ("No matter what you say, you can't convince yourself this is the right thing. It's not the right thing.").
I would say the girl ended the relationship, but the lyrics say, "One last chance - I reject your call." He's the one avoiding her.
I'm guessing he finds his decision unbearable, because he still loves her*, and death sounds oh-so sweet ("The plane, it banks. We begin to fall. This is the best dream I've ever had."). I wouldn't say he regrets his decision, though, or he would have answered her call.

    * "As long as we are choosing sides, I think its only fair I have the right to make the first round pick, and you should know that you're still it."
Whatever's being referred to in "choosing sides" is probably the reason for the breakup.
