While you've been dreaming of the dead and lost.
I have been awake kissing these clock faces
The fear of sleep has left me tired and worn.
But in her dreams is where I will haunt her

I've seen the shadow of this burning angel.
These city lights will never be as beautiful as your eyes
I'll pick up the pieces when you've failed and fallen to the ground.
Let my words set and fall upon your unwilling ears,
It will be ok.

I took to the sky, did you mourn for me?
Well who needs flowers when they're dead and buried
For now my whisper is my dearest friend.
But even I no it won't last forever

I've seen the shadow of this burning angel.
These city lights will never be as beautiful as your eyes.
Ill pick up the pieces when you've failed and fallen to the ground.
Let my words set and fall upon your unwilling ears, it will be ok.

smile when you think of me, the pain will go in time.
I may be alone with fear in my mind. I leave these words in hope that...
That we'll meet again, again...now?
I know this won't last forever

my guess (which is probally wrong) is that this is about a guy knowing that his relationship is about to end beucase of arguements but loves her so much that he cant hate her but knows it has to end, and hopes that she understands that he had to do this

I think this song is about a realationship turning sour and him saying he will always haunt her "But in her dreams is where i will haunt her". The line "I've seen the shadow of this burning angel." is saying that he has seen the the shadow of her falling from grace, he thought she was an angel but now she falls from grace, burning. (brings up images of icarus in my mind) "Let my words set and fall upon your unwilling ears It will be ok." this line seems as though he is changing his tune from being bitter and haunting her to telling her that it will be ok even though she doesnt want to hear his voice. "Smile when you think of me, The pain will go in time." this line says simply dont hate me, dont feel pain when you think of me, just smile and remember the good times. Then there is the penultimate part " I leave these words in hope that... That we'll meet again, again.. now?" this is to say that he is being nice to try and bend the burnt bridges and smooth over the cracks so that they may try it again. The final part, and very simple ending to an amazing song "I Know this wont last forever, I Know this wont last forever" he is saying that he knows that they should be together and the silence and hate between them will not last foreve.

It is about a past relationship where the guy died now he watches over his beloved woman. "While you've been dreaming of the dead and lost." "I took to the sky." "Who needs flowers when your dead and buried?" "I may be alone with fear in my mind" its all references to death and how he knows this won't last forever. she will eventually move on. but he is still looking after her "I've seen the shadow of this burning angel." "I'll pick up the peices when you've failed and fallen to the ground, Let my words set and fall upon your unwilling ears, It will be ok." He is dead and all alone, All he as is the city lights, which will never be as beautiful as her eyes lawl

The general meaning of this song is that a guy realizes that his relationship with a girl is coming to an end. the girl dwells on her past, "While you've been dreaming of the dead and lost." Where as, he is focused on the present and their current relationship, "I Have been awake kissing these clock faces."

He sees that this girl is going to let him down and that he can't trust her, "I'll pick up the peices when you've failed and fallen to the ground." But he still cares about her and wants to make the relationship work.

I believe they then develop an on and off relationship... The third stanza mentions him being alone, but it won't last forever. "I leave these words in hope that... That we'll meet again, again.. now? I Know this wont last forever, I Know this wont last forever "

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."
