"101" as written by and Albert Hammond Jr.....
Though, it took me by surprise
One by one, I realized
There was somethin', I could do

I lost my way, that's what she said
Back to the 101
If we don't know, somewhere to go
Back to the 101

I never said, to feel relaxed
I never said, to love me back
What was I next to you?

And in my mind, it all goes black
Lost control of what I had
All my thoughts, left one by one

I lost my way, that's what she said
Back to the 101
Back to the one, another one
Back to the 101

I count the one
I count the one
I count the 101

I count the one
I count the one
I count the 101

I know
(I count the one)
I lost
(I count the one)
My way
(I count the 101)

This time
(I count the one)
We?ll find
(I count the one)
A place
(I count the 101)

I know
(I count the one)
I lost
(I count the one)
My way
(I count the 101)

This time
(I count the one)
We?ll find
(I count the one)
A place
(I count the 101)

General CommentThe 101 could also reference to the number of college classes signifying a basic course. Saying that he is returning back to the basics and the beginning.

General Commenti think it might actually be:

What was I next to you?

In my mind it all goes back

General CommentRoom 101 is a torture chamber in which a prisoner is subjected to his or her own worst nightmare. Such is the omniscience of the state in the totalitarian society of Nineteen Eighty-Four by George Orwell

General CommentYeah i dont think Albert is singing about a torture chamber. I think the highway fits a little better with the song. I always imagined a train for some reason but highway might be more accurate.

General CommentI am not sure, and the album sleeve doesn't have the lyrics printed in it, but I think the lyric might be: "I caught the 101" therefore referencing the highway. Albert is originally from CA, and it might be kind of a returning home kind of thing, or maybe trying to return to someone. The whole album deals a lot with relatioships and change. Catch him in concert if you can---def an awesome show!!

General CommentMy first thought was also back to the beginning. He got off track, maybe had a drinking problem, gambling problem (etc) and is now back to the basics.
