Think it was the hottest day of the year
Even still we started fires with the embers
Sweetest man held on at the top of the hill
Sweetest lady held on to her memories
The world was so big and I was so small
And your voice was always the loudest of all
Yesterday we cut down the apple tree
Cracking wood made my little heart tremble
I wish I didn't have to try so hard
But little boys got a lot to remember
The world was so big and I was so small
And your voice was always the loudest of all
I loved the days I spent with you
And I still have all you could offer
The backyard looks so empty now
Then I think of her, I think of her
The world was so big and I was so small
And your voice was always the loudest
The world was so big and I was so small
Your voice was always
The world was so big and I was so small
Your voice was always the loudest of all
Even still we started fires with the embers

I got into Miracle Legion through the Adventures of Pete
I think a lot of the new generation of ML fans came from people that heard the beautiful music of Pete and Pete by Polaris. I didn't start listening to Polaris until they aired re-runs of P&P on Noggin (or the N?) in 2004/2005. When I was a kid, I loved the show, but in 2004 I didn't appreciate it that much. But after I re-watched a lot of the episodes and I heard the theme and some of the other music used in the show, I was enthralled. It send me on a chase to figure who did it.

The chase led to me the Mezzotint website, where Mulcahy has a few songs from each band (his solo work, Miracle Legion, and Polaris) available. I downloaded the 6-8 available on his website, and burnt them to a CD-R. After a few thousand listens I was absolutely in love with everything Mulcahy touches.

The Backyard was one of the songs that were available on the site and one of the songs that made me realize how good this band really was.
