"The Drunkk Machine" as written by and Thomas Edward Yorke....
The drunk machine
Spitting nonsense
Spitting feathers
Talking in tongues
Swiveling heads
Splitting hairs

Don't listen

Who is driving?
Aquaplaning
Hold on

I got a bad feeling
I got a bad feeling

Don't listen
Swiveling heads

The drunk machine
Spits

Who put it in charge?

General CommentWhen I first heard it, I immediately thought "oh, he's slamming government again." Then I thought he may actually be referencing corporate advertising. In other words, don't listen to these people, drunk on their own wealth, who spit nonsense to get you to buy their product! And who put those people in charge anyway, since most corporations hold more power then any given government?

General CommentTowards the end after swiveling heads Thom mimicks the sound of a car being driven fast & being out of control, resulting in collisions and crashes..Apart from that the song also speaks of state of mind of a drunkard, and the mindless blather , insanity & savagery it unleashes on the mind..

General CommentI think the drunk machine is referring to anything that has to do with the media activating and influencing our senses. A car, radio, television set, ect. We are drunk off of our own material possessions?

General CommentYeah, eatenbytheworms got the lyrics right.

I think the song is about the talking-heads on TV, who all seem to be coming from different angles of the same nonsense. They make up the drunkk machine... Don't listen.

General CommentI definitely agree that foamweapon's idea could be true, but I wonder if this song is meant to be taking semi-literally. These lyrics--

    Who is driving?
    Aqua-planing
    Hold on

--make me wonder if Yorke is describing a car full of drunk people. When I listen to the song I envision a group of rambunctious and tipsy boys who are yelling drunken nonsense out the windows of their "drunk machine," the car. Suddenly, they lose control and crash the car ("the drunk machine / spits..." indicates an interruption of some sort), and in a half-conscious state they wonder--" who put IT in charge?"

General CommentI like the drunk driving interpretation better than the corporate one. Just seems more fitting. But this song is definitely vague and metaphorical enough to never be fully interpretted except by Thom himself. Just saying ;)

General Commentyeah, i have a feeling that the lyrics aren't necessarily goverment control, seeing how yorke asks "who put it in contol", rather than express regret for it's election.
