Do not envy the man with the x-ray eyes
In the ’50s Ray Milland pierced the skies

Do not envy who sees and plucks out his eyes
Do not envy the man with the x-ray eyes
Do not envy the man with the x-ray eyes
Do not envy the man with the x-ray eyes

You think you want
You want to see
Through all the lies
You think you’d like
To see past death
With x-ray eyes x-ray eyes
X-ray eyes x-ray eyes
X-ray eyes x-ray eyes

Do not envy who sees beyond the pale
Don’t look there, pluck not at nature’s veil
Do not envy the man with the x-ray eyes
Do not envy the man with the x-ray eyes

You think you want
To see the truth
But if you knew
You can’t undo
You’d look away
With x-ray eyes x-ray eyes
X-ray eyes x-ray eyes
X-ray eyes x-ray eyes

Do not lift the veil of the skies
Do not lift the veil of the skies
Do not lift the veil of the skies
Do not lift the veil of the skies

Do not envy the man with the x-ray eyes
Do not envy the man with the x-ray eyes
Do not envy the man with the x-ray eyes
Do not envy the man with the x-ray eyes

With x-ray eyes x-ray eyes
With x-ray eyes x-ray eyes
X-ray eyes

Do not envy the man with the x-ray eyes
Do not envy the man with the x-ray eyes

General CommentDo not envy Ray Milland, the man with the x-ray eyes. Lifting the veil of the skies is not a good thing!

General CommentThis song is true. I am a person who can detect lies and dishonesty without even trying. It is a very painful thing when someone you trust or think highly of lies to you. I have had rocky relationships because of this. For example, my girlfriend is home and i get home form work, i ask her, "What all did you do today ?" she tells me she visited her mother and took her son to see his father." I instantly know she's left something out. So I ask her, "Anything else ?" and she knowing me and what I can do gets mad and tells me she stopped and got a pack of cigarettes too. So, she's mad at me for asking about her day. I know she was faithful to me, and cigarettes are a silly thing to end a relationship over. But the real tragedy is that she'd been absued and wronged by so many men that she was incapable of fully trusting a man completely. She wasn't prepared for a man who could accept her wholly, and I couldn't live with a woman who'd lie over something like cigarettes. We both agreed that friendship was best, and to stop being a couple. After that our relationship became better than before, LOL. She actually told me the whole truth after we broke up.

However, this song is just another page in the book of the awesome resources that Blue Oyster Cult has pulled from to create their amazing music.

General CommentInspired by a Ray Milland movie, "The Man With The X-Ray Eyes", it's about seeing things beyond what most of us can normally see, and why such a gift may be a curse.
