Say goodbye
love again
love again

but I
dont want to want to want to want to
go in circles round the bend un' til we are just friends again
and then not even that
sometimes I almost can recall what it was like before we ever met
sometimes not even that

I was carved
from your rib
from your rib
dust... to dust to dust to dust to dust to
go in circles round the bend un' til we are just friends again
and then not even that
sometimes i almost can recall what it was like before we ever met
sometimes not even that
sometimes not even that.. at.. at..at

then...then
go in cirles round the bend un' til we are just friends again and
go in cirles round the bend un' til we are just friends again and
un til we are just friends again....

I love how she makes references to everything in her songs...it makes them so much more interesting that she references things like Biblical stories, or authors and movies, and etc.

Anyway this is one of my absolute favorites (aren't they all..) It's just a really perfect description of what happens at the end of a relationship and you're frustrated because you miss the person but you don't want to go through all of the circles it takes to be just friends again...you don't want to go backwards.

i agree, i love regina's absolute rawness in EVERY single song she does. especially this one. i stumbled upon it and it's probably one of my favorites because of how real it feels. regina spektor, you're a goddess.

Yes! Go to reginaspektor.net. They have lots of live and rare recordings you can download and burn to a CD. Also look at reginaspektoronline.com. These songs are hidden gems, seriously -- probably some of the best Regina songs and songs in GENERAL I've ever heard! This one is wonderful and so g.d. relatable.

i absolutely love regina spektor. she is my best friend and she doesnt even know. im sure all heartfelt regina fans feel like they need to announce their undying love for her. when i first heard this song, along with many others, it was kind of like a punch to the stomach because i can relate to it so so well. im so thankful for everything she writes because it helps to know that someone understands. i love every single song shes written, and i get so excited everytime i find a song ive never heard before because each one is like a secret that you can enjoy as you please, but at the same time you cant waste. she is so raw and talented and i cant find anything wrong with her.

for me, the song is about an on and off relationship. and shes saying how painful it is to care about this person so much since their affection "goes in circles". she knows what a good relationship this can be, but the hard part is that it isnt always that way. "somedays i almost can recall what it was like before we ever met. sometimes not even that." shows how occupied she is by caring about this relationship. its just a hard and unfair thing to do. :(

"haunting" is definitely the right word for this song.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
