"Nowhere Fast" as written by and Palumbo....
I needed just a hit, one hit
It's a very little hit, I'm sure I won't like it
I needed to be hurt, one hit will send me flying

I got away with murder last night in the parking lot
In cold blood I have murdered parts of us that we forgot

I walked into a kiss, one kiss
From the very lovely miss who lives to fulfill my wish
I needed to be hurt, one kiss will send me flying

I got away with murder last night in the parking lot
In cold blood I have murdered parts of us that we forgot

I will be goin' nowhere,
I will be goin' nowhere
I will be going nowhere, nowhere fast
I will be going no,
I will be going no,
I will be going no,
I will be going no,
I will be going nowhere, nowhere fast

I had to write a hit, one hit
It's a very little hit, I'm sure you won't like it
I needed to be hurt, one hit will send me flying

I got away with murder last night in the parking lot
In cold blood I have murdered parts of us that we forgot
And in the end I grant you
A farewell and final kiss
I got away with murder, who's the next to make the list

I will be goin' nowhere,
I will be goin' nowhere
I will be going nowhere, nowhere fast
I will be going no,
I will be going no,
I will be going no,
I will be going no,
I will be going nowhere, nowhere fast

General CommentThis is my favorite song on the album.

"I had to write a hit, one hit"
Makes me think he means a song, and going nowhere fast could mean they aren't going to make it huge.

General Commentthis and lying through your teeth are the best to see live. its an unforgettable experience seeing HA live. especially if its a small venue. i saw them with only 200 people. yea that small. it was the best experience of my life. i was front row center. which made it even better. they always put on a good show.

General CommentOkay, so at first I thought this song was about drugs (I needed just a hit), but now I'm not so sure.

It kinda seems like it could be a reference to graduation day. Now, don't shoot me for saying this, but I really and truly hate graduation day. I tried; I gave it a chance, but I think it's horrible. Don't get me wrong, I think HA is amazing, but that song sounds nothing like the rest of the album, or their first one. It's your classic, unoriginal, run of the mill, "alternative rock" piece of shit that MTV extracts from the music world (no offense if you like it - maybe I just have no taste in music).

Graduation day sounds like the kind of song that any other MTV "alternative rock" band could turn out, make some flashy music video for, and proceed to ruin radio with.

Anyway, here's what made me think it's a song reference -

I had to write a hit, one hit -
I though it sounded like song reference; write a song, a hit song. And Graduation Day is their hit song (along with beating hearts, which I do like)

    It's a very little hit, I'm sure you won't like it -
    Well, I don't like it.

I needed to be hurt, one hit will send me flying -
Not sure about this, but I thought he was saying "I needed to be heard", not hurt. A hit song would allow HA to be heard by a larger fan base.

    It's a very little hit, I’m sure I won't like it -
They're sure they won't like their hit song because hit music, for lack of a better word, sucks (for the most part).

I got away with murder last night in the parking lot
In cold blood I have murdered parts of us that we forgot -
Maybe they're talking about murdering the part of the band that didn't want to give in to popular music, and instead play true to themselves.

I got away with murder, who's the next to make the list -
Who's the next band to "sell out" to pop music? btw, I don't condemn sell-outs: people have done worse things for money.

    (chorus) -
    Going nowhere musically?

I walked into a kiss, one kiss
From the very lovely miss who lives to fulfill my wish -
Kiss of fame? Fulfill their wishes of fame?

General CommentI'm going to analyze this bitch.

"I needed just a hit, one hit
    It's a very little hit, i'm sure I won't like it
I needed to be hurt, one hit will send me flying"

First of all that is wrong. it is not, 'im sure i wont like it' it is 'im sure i would like it'. Second of all, I am convinced this song is about marijuana. You can deny all you want, and say 'it's about fame! they would never do drugs!' I think he is saying here that he needs a hit of a joint, but only a little one, because that will be enough to get him flying high.

"I walked into a kiss, one kiss
From the very lovely miss who lives to fulfil my wish
I needed to be hurt, one kiss will send me flying"

Have any of you ever heard marijuana being reffered to as Mary Jane? She's a lovely miss that mary jane. I have heard smoking a joint being reffered to as kissing mary jane.

"I got away with murder last night in the parking lot
In cold blood I have murdered parts of us that we forgot"

Smoking pot kills an amount of brain cells and makes you somewhat forgetful. He smoked pot in a parking lot, and killed his braincells that he has forgotten about.

    "I will be goin' nowhere
I will be going nowhere, nowhere fast "

There is this theory that people who smoke pot develop what is called 'Anti motivational syndrome'?
Yeah. He doesnt feel he is going anywhere.

"I had to write a hit, one hit
It's a very little hit, i'm sure you won't like it
I needed to be hurt, one hit will send me flying"

He's trying to smoke pot to get inspiration, but instead he is getting nothing.

"I got away with murder last night in the parking lot
In cold blood I have murdered parts of us that we forgot
And in the end I grant you
    A farewell and final kiss
I got away with murder, who's the next to make the list"

he smokes one last time and decides that it is stopping him from writing the way he wants, so he quits.

General Commentthese are the right lyrics (out of the cd book)

I needed just a hit, one hit
    It's a very little hit, I'm sure I won't like it
I needed to be heard, one hit would send me flying

I got away with murder last night in the parking lot
In cold blood I have murdered parts of us that we forgot

I walked into a kiss, one kiss
From the very lovely miss who lives to fulfill my wish
I needed to be hurt, one kiss would send me flying

I got away with murder last night in the parking lot
In cold blood I have murdered parts of us that we forgot

    I will be going nowhere
    Nowhere fast

I had to write a hit, one hit
It's a very little hit, I'm sure you won't like it
I needed to rehearse, one hit would send me flying

General CommentI think this talks about all the vices of life.
The guy killed his relationship with different things.
Verse 1: He did it with drugs
Verse 2: He cheated on her
Verse 3: Fame gets in the way.
Chorus: By doing these things he destroyed their relationship.

I just get that sense especially from the "a final kiss and farewell"
