[I.]
Your toothbrush is still next to mine
Your clothes are hanging in the closet
And I'm still living here
You paid the deposit
Now the future is unknown
But I'm not sleeping alone

[Chorus:]
I'm sleeping with the memory
I'm sleeping with regret
I'm sleeping with the fantasy
That I can't let go of yet
Half of me is you
Everything I own
I feel you beside me
Oh, I'm not sleeping alone
I'm not sleping alone
I'm not sleping alone

[II.]
Hey, I wonder where you are tonight
What's going through your head
Hey, I'm doing alright
On my side of the bed
You think I'm here on my own
But I'm not sleeping alone

[Chorus:]
I'm sleeping with the memory
I'm sleeping with regret
I'm sleeping with the fantasy
That I can't let go of yet
Half of me is you
Everything I own
I feel you beside me
Oh, I'm not sleeping alone

I'm not sleping alone
I'm not sleping alone

[Bridge:]
When I put my head on the pillow
And I enter the world of my dreams
Everything is as it was before
Still loving me
You're still loving me

You think I'm here on my own
But I'm not sleeping alone

It's kinda obvious what's going on here. She left him and things are as if she never left in their apartment. He wonders how she's doing as she lives it up thinking he's now all alone and lonely, he's still hung up on her. He's not sleeping alone because of all the bad emotions he holds over her. And when he goes to sleep, in his dreams, everything goes back to how it used to be.. I love it. It perfectely phrases how you feel after someone breaks up with you. You're not really "alone" after they leave you. You've got the heartbreak.

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.

Head > Heels
Ed Sheeran
“Head > Heels” is a track that aims to capture what it feels like to experience romance that exceeds expectations. Ed Sheeran dedicates his album outro to a lover who has blessed him with a unique experience that he seeks to describe through the song’s nuanced lyrics.
