@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday".
I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.
Divided world
How did it get away?
So close so far
Just hit the capacity
Blow the ceiling off the bar
And end us all
Stay quiet while we just contaminate
A place of life
A trip to the hospital bed can take you away
For a small price
And for my likeness
They would throw it all away
Well will your father
Even live to see the day?
Pull me out
You try to speak but you're not allowed
They wanna take all your towns
Through the machine
So empty your eyes for the night
Back for your last chance
You're on a trial
Be careful with your words
Bad things will happen
But if you cash in you'll never be alone
And for a dollar
They could burn me at the stake
And will your daughter
Even have a place to play?
Pull me out
You try to speak but you're not allowed
They wanna take all your towns
Through the machine
Well I prefer to run my mouth
And fill up my brain with endless sound
Just open a vein and take a bow
For the machine
Pull me out
You try to speak but you're not allowed
They wanna take all your towns
Through the machine
Well I prefer to run my mouth
And fuck up my brain with endless sound
Just open a vein and take a bow
For the machine

This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version.
Great version of a great song,

This is a sequel to 2001's "Reckless Abandon", and features the band looking back on their clumsy youth fondly.

“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it.
“I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
This is the first single for RvO. and it is awesome. not sure what it's about though.
I love this song... I see it as a response to all the sci-fi thoughts of robots taking over humans and such
the song meaning the song is dealing with Joshua's(frontman) death he is saying he doesnt want life sopport, the machine takes full control over him and his body, pull the plug to show the machine how he breaths(death), if any one ever gave a fuck about him, and that if you ever got better fuck you.
I think this song is about how the wave of new technology and new trends is sort of taking over what the subject's perception of how things worked was. We give into such things every day in our life simply to progress the "machines" and he acknowledges anyone else who has the same thoughts as he does... Talking about how the past is reflected upon the present and future of what he lives/lived through. Stating as well that the new forms of social and political gain are buying into the "machine" that will corrupt, if not already corrupted, the world.
okay, unknown user... dont think too hard, you'll do yourself in, but i like ur unique thinking.
i just saw the video. it's animated with futuristic people. they like thier burgers. there are also these figures that look as if people dressed up in slim bunny suits, but that's irrelevant,; they are the burger meat. and when the people had a "food supply shortage" (video), they built these big machines that had the strength to blow underground, where there were more burger meat hoppin around. ..and in the operation, the machines were too powerful and blew up this race and what they had. the video style changes right after this, as if you are viewing personal camcorder footage of waste, rubble, machine parts, and dead victims of thier own technology.
has anyone noticed that the "latest comment" is NEVER THE REAL LATEST COMMENT?!
capitalism strikes again
Basically, the song is talking about his life support, saying that he doesn't want his life in the hands of a Machine. If you watch the video clip (which is awsome) it shows not only what seems to be happening now, but also what will happen if everybody entrusts their lives to machines, eventually making all machines the cause of both our survival and death.
