"Grey Day" as written by and Stuart David/blake Price....
No relief from this blue melody
Blue right words escape me
Love you go down
Love is a race now

Know your face from this blue memory
Opened us close on me
Love you go down love no trace now

Put your smile on my face stop me wasting away
Make a promise and break
Green light all the way to a grey day

Love you go down
Love is a race now

Put your smile on my face stop me wasting away
Make a promise and break
Green light all the way to a grey day

Each new voice and good times let me be
Change the tune sounds the same

Put your smile on my face stop me wasting away
Make a promise and break
Green light all the way to a grey day

Song MeaningWhen I hear this song, I think it is about accepting a half-love instead of dropping someone to pursue the real thing. The person is willing to fool himself for a mediocre outcome to stave off a bad heartbreak -- "put your smile on my face stop me wasting away". But every day is just the same old same old ("change the tune, sounds the same").

The Green Light to a Grey Day means he is giving his assent to a so-so outcome.

I'm not sure how love is a race, but maybe it is something competitive or something like he's rushing forward but is going to lose. The Green Light can be the signal to start?

Great song, not fully interpretable, but has lots of feeling of self-defeat in it.
