Angel of mercy, how did you find me?
Where did you read my story?
Pulled from the papers, desperate and hurting
Seeking a momentary fix

All I wanted to say, all I wanted to do
Is fall apart now
All I wanted to feel, I wanted to love
It's all my fault now
A tragedy I fear

Angel of mercy, how did you find me?
How did you pick me up again?
Angel of mercy, how did you move me?
Why am I on my feet again?

I see you
Whoa whoa whoa
I feel you
Whoa whoa whoa

Fortress of daylight
Caught me on standby
Waiting to catch the quickest plane
To fly me to nowhere
It's better than somewhere
That's where I've been and nothings changed

All I wanted to say, all I wanted to do
Is fall apart now
All I wanted to feel, I wanted to love
It's all my fault now
A tragedy I chose

Angel of mercy, how did you find me?
How did you pick me up again?
Angel of mercy, how did you move me?
Why am I on my feet again?

I see you
Whoa whoa whoa
I feel you
Whoa whoa whoa

I'm so lost in you
A tragedy, it seemed to be over now
A tragedy, it seemed to be over now

Angel of mercy, how did you find me?
How did you pick me up again?
Angel of mercy, how did you move me?
Why am I on my feet again?

I see you
Whoa whoa whoa
I feel you
Whoa whoa whoa
I feel you
Oh oh whoa
I feel you
Oh oh oh

I think this song is indeed about God.

Angel of mercy How did you find me? Where did you read my story? Pulled from the papers Desperate and hardened seeking a momentary fix

    • asking how God noticed that he needed help. It seems to me he was trying to feel whole. But what he was doing wasn't working.

And* I wanted to say All I wanted to do Is fall apart now All I wanted to feel I wanted to love Its all my fault now A Tradegy I fear

    • he was in a dilema (personal) and just wanted to give up and fall apart. He tried to feel something and he wanted to love so badly, but it didn't turn out right. He may have gone down the wrong path and lost his way to what he was trying to reach.

Angel of mercy How did you find me? How did you pick me up again? Angel of mercy How did you move me? Why am I on my feet again? And I see you

    • asking God how he managed to pick him up and give him the right kind of guidance. he knows his path now.

Whoa Whoa Whoa I feel you Whoa Whoa Whoa

    • He can feel God there with him. (A friend told me once that he opened his heart up and spoke to God and said that he wanted him in his life, and the most unusual feeling took over him. He felt like God was there and he listened.)

Fortress of daylight Caught me on stand-by Waiting to catch the quickest plane Flying to nowhere Is better than somewhere That's where i've been and nothing's changed

    • Saying how he just wanted to get away from where he was, both physically and emotionally. Saying how he tried going somewhere but it didn't work, so now he just wants to be nowhere.

I'm so lost in you A tragedy seemed to be over now A tradegy it seemed to be over now

    • He is now consumed by God, and the tragedy of him losing his way and giving up is over, but it only seemed a tragedy, because in the end God came and helped him. (A tragedy means there is no good from the events that unfold, but now that God's there, it only seems like it was a tragedy as he looks back on it in retrospect.)

So basically this song is about him losing his way, he had good intentions, he wanted to feel and love, but he couldn't get there. He gave up and it was then that God stepped in and showed him the way/gave him faith to get there.

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
