You get up and are told where to go

When you are there, you even hear what to think
Thanks, again it is really been a great day
You say nothing and no one asks you: say, do you want that?

No, no, no, no…

[Chorus]
Scream! until you are yourself
Scream! even if it's the last (thing)
Scream! even if it hurts
Scream as loud as you can

Scream! until you are yourself
Scream! even if it's the last (thing)
Scream! even if it hurts
Scream as loud as you can
Scream…. Scream as loud as you can

Take care, rat-catchers lurk everywhere
They follow you, catch you from the ambush
Promise you everything you have never dreamt of
And some time it is too late or do you need that?

No, no, no, no…

[Chorus]
Scream! until you are yourself
Scream! even if it's the last (thing)
Scream! even if it hurts
Scream! as loud as you can

Scream! until you are yourself
Scream! even if it's the last (thing)
Scream! because it hurts so much
Scream! as loud as you can

Scream….

Back to zero, now your time is coming
Let them know who you really are
Scream as loud as you can…. scream

Now is our time!

[Chorus]
Scream! until you are yourself
Scream! even if it's the last (thing)
Scream! even if it hurts
Scream as loud as you can

Scream! until you are yourself
Scream! even if it's the last thing
Scream! because it hurts so much
Scream as loud as you can

AND NOW BE SILENT!

No, because you are yourself
No, even if its the last thing
No, because it hurts so much
Scream as loud as you can

No, no, no,no.no.no, scream as loud as you can
Scream!

General CommentThe RIGHT lyric is this one:

    You get up
And somebody tells you where to go to
When you get ther evereybody's telling you what to do
Thank you it's been another bloody monday
And no one is asking what you wanted anyway
No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no (2x)

    Scream! Till you feel it
    Scream! Till you believe it
Scream! And when it hurts you
Scream it out loud! ........ Scream..

    Watch out!
    Stay awake, they're lurkin'
    Obsess you, they're always working
Promising, Everything you never asked for
And one day it'll be too late and you'll beg for more

    No no ... etc.

    Chorus

Back to zero, Your time's about to come
Let them know, You're not just anyone

    Scream..

    Your time's about to come

    Chorus

    Shut up! (silence)

    No! Cos you feel it
    No! Cos you believe it
No! And when it hurts you
Scream it out loud! No. no. no. no. no. no
    Scream it out loud.... Scream!!

General CommentxxImkexx, just because that is the english version of the song, doesn't mean it's a direct translation of the german one, which is what these lyrics are posted as.

The german version, as usual, makes more sense than the english one, it seems! Makes me wish I'd not dropped german!

General CommentThe lyrics aren't wrong. These are just translations of the German song, Schrei. The lyrics that xxImkexx posted are the lyrics to Scream, which is a whole 'nother story.

General CommentOhk well now that everyone has established that there is indeed a direct translation, which I think is interesting, and then the actual english song, we should decide on a meaning.

I believe this song is about everyone always telling you what to do in life because they know whats best and finally you say f***k you, because you really are the only one that knows whats best for you.

Well that's what I think it may be or is close to :) any improvements to my suggestion ?

General CommentI hate the english version. Mostly because I hate the fact that Americans HAVE to be right. I found Tokio Hotel a looooong time ago, before they had a CD in english. And I learned this song, because I was in German class.

Aside that...I detest American fans who don't bother to check out the German CDs. It sounds better anyways.

Regardless, I just wanted to be mean. I don't want to be redundant.

General CommentI agree. The German is a thousand times better. Even when directly translated ! But it's nice to hear some of it in English too. Honestly I can live with both aspects of their music happily. It's also true that, yes, I only became a fan of them after they released Ubers Ende Der Welt into the English version Ready, Set, Go. But after I heard that song I downloaded ALL their songs including the German ones.

    PS;
German isn't offered as a second language in Canada so I had no way to find them unless I heard it in English first or knew someone who was German or had some form of way to know about everything universal. Which is impossible.

General CommentExcuse me, I really don't get the part where they said "Promising everything you never asked for"
Does that mean that they get the things they don't want to? Or the people making them do what they never wanted to do? Or people promising bad things?

General Commenti'm not sure if you all noticed but this internet site is called ''song meanings''
these lyrics are what the song means
it is the right lyrics because it's a direct translation
the english version is not direct translation
it is was fits in with the music
so stop saying these lyrics are wrong
    because they're not
