Baby, baby since you've been gone I ain't doing so good
I don't get up, paint my face and go out like I should
Baby you turned a clear night sky into a dark, dark hole
And when I see a sunset now I'm just looking at a painting in a cheap motel.

Baby I'm going on without you
Maybe I'm even gonna get through
But baby I'll tell you something that'll never be true
Baby, I'll get over you

Sometimes I feel that my only friend is a whisky glass
You know it don't stop the time but it helps it pass
That old sun coming in my room, well it hurts my eyes
I see people walking out on the day but I stay inside
I need to hide

Baby I'm going on without you
Maybe I'm even gonna get through
But baby I'll tell you something that'll never be true
Baby, I'll get over you

I'll get over you when the moon gets tired of chasing the sun
I'll get over you when all God's work on Earth is done
And on that day when I go to meet my maker's son
I'll need no one and I'll be over you

Baby I'm going on without you
Maybe I'm even gonna get through
But baby I'll tell you something that'll never be true
Baby, I'll get over you

Baby, I'll get over you

General CommentYeah, amen. She has an amazing voice. She's like a female Sufjan Stevens. I only bought her album today but I already know like every song, I LOVE her. She's a demi goddess! Lol. And I love how honest she is in this song. This is kind of how I feel about my ex.

General CommentThis is a song where a lot of people can relate to: a person is trying to get over a person they were highly infatuated or in love with.

What touches me most is the "But baby I'll tell you something that'll never be true. Baby, I'll get over you."

I guess this means that you try to get over that person, you want to because it hurts too much, but you don't think you're going to be able to let go. And that's understandable, because letting go is hard to do.

General Commentyes but she can get away with being obvious sometimes. this is easily one of my favorite songs period. i love what she does for the indie folk genre. she's just so genuine and honest. i love that this song is so relate-able. i'm in the same situation right now. i really think this song is less about her hurting and more about the fact that she's moving on but that doesn't mean she can get over the person. it's not a sappy sad song. it's just kind of a fact of life. i'm going on with my life but i'll never be able to say that i'm over you.
