"Pieces" as written by and Robert Douglas Graves....
I'm here again
A thousand miles away from you
A broken mess, just scattered pieces of who I am
I tried so hard
Thought I could do this on my own
I've lost so much along the way

Then I'll see your face
I know I'm finally yours
I find everything I thought I lost before
You call my name
I come to you in pieces
So you can make me whole

I've come undone
But you make sense of who I am
Like puzzle pieces in your eye

Then I'll see your face
I know I'm finally yours
I find everything I thought I lost before
You call my name
I come to you in pieces
So you can make me whole!

I tried so hard! So hard!
I tried so hard!

Then I'll see your face
I know I'm finally yours
I find everything I thought I lost before
You call my name
I come to you in pieces
So you can make me whole
So you can make me whole

General CommentThis is by far the most beautiful and meaningful song that I have heard. To me its about trying to change your life and/or breaking an addiction without God's help, being beaten down by satan and then finnally realizing that God loves you regardless of your state and feeling at peace when you are safely in his arms.

General Commentthis song has an extremely personal meaning for me, while i know it was intended as a religious song, i cannot see it as that just because of past experiences. after coming out of an extremely horrible relationship, i was literally a mess, completely unable to do anything for myself after having been in said relationship for such a long time.

after doing a little bit of picking myself up, i met my husband to be, and while i don't want to sound as though anybody needs a man, or woman, whichever, i doubt i would have been able to pick myself up completely and be half of the person i am today without having met him. he literally was the one to pick up the peices.

the reason this song does have such a meaning to me though is that i regularly leave my computer on with my complete itunes on random, and ironically, this was the first song we made love to, and apart from the actual music being GREAT to make love to, it is just plain an amazing song, no matter if you relate it to your God or your lover, or just that one person who no matter what is always able to help you pick yourself up when everything seems to be going wrong.

General CommentThis is perhaps the most beautiful song I have ever heard. It makes me cry almost every time I listen to it. I know that Red is a Christian band and all, but I prefer to not think about this as a Christian song. I completely see how it is refering to God, but I think it becomes an even more powerful song if it is viewed non-religiously, but that is just my opinion.

I would argue that it could be interpreted as being about someone who is completely lost after being separated from their love, perhaps they broke up and the person tried to move on but couldn't, to the point in which they do not think they can go on without them. They have forgotten who they are in the process. When they are reunited or get back together after being apart, the person finds everything that they thought they lost. The person ends up coming back to their love as pieces of who they used to be, but they know that their love can make them whole again.

Of course, that isn't what they originally wrote it as, but I like to think so.

As an atheist, I would also argue that you don't need God to be whole, but you do need love and hope in your life.

General CommentI found this song at the right time. My ex-boyfriend and I broke up due to his emotional problems, my mother was diagnosed with cancer, I almost lost my house, had no $$ for Xmas for my kids, my demanding career was stressing me out...and this song just came at the perfect time when I was broken.

I truly was in Pieces and I did realize, I just needed to get myself together and totally place my faith first and work on me from the inside / out.

Here I am 2 months later in much better shape! This is such a true song...we do come to Him at our lowest, when we're in Pieces and He makes us whole.

    Beautiful, true song.

General CommentWhile it is assumed that this song is about God, you could also make the argument that this is about a man's soon-to-be wife. The lines "When I see your face, I know I'm finally yours" can also mean marriage very easily. Regardless, this song is insanely beautiful, both in music and lyrics.

General CommentHere is my opinion for those of you who see this song as being about marriage:

While we may feel at times that another person (significant other, spouse) makes us feel whole, if we look for meaning and fulfillment in them we are going to be disappointed and put strain on our marriage. I believe this is a problem for a lot of couples today. You cannot put the burden of making you feel complete and whole on another human being. If we are in pieces and go into a relationship with another person expecting them to make us whole, sooner or later, we will feel disappointed, feel like that person is not providing something that they should, and then you look for another person who will (at least temporarily)...
In my opinion, believing that the love of another human can be perfect and give you "everything" you ever wanted and needed is like believing in a fairy tale. When you expectations of this fairy tale going into marriage, reality will make you feel as though the person isn't "right" for you.

Please feel free to comment, non-christian or christian on how you agree or disagree
Only God can fully give us this piece of mind, totally make us feel whole.

General CommentHaving just finished HP and the Deathly Hallows: This song is absolutely about Severus Snape!

O.K.: it might not have been written for that reason- but it still fits.

General CommentThis song illustrates how awesome this band is. They can go from hard crunching songs to something this beautiful. I have not heard any other band with the variety of talent that Red has. Definitely the best band out there.
