They originally started as a beneficence movement in Ireland, but they progressed becoming more and more similarly to slavery; reports of women dead trying to escape these places are not that scarce. Originally run by Irish State, on their spread they became Church-Run.<br /> <br /> With that as perspective, and as one with heavy conservative-Catholic background I can picture the lyrics as being the sing of one of those escaped women (I know that the lyrics are sung with male pronouns and verbal declinations, but then again, the spanish is not really perfect either, so bear a second with me):<br /> <br /> Sick I arrived, (as in: I was interned at the asylum on the asumption that I was sick, sick of sins)<br /> and to remake (meaning convalesce myself), I wander around (he/she become a wanderer).
