(Bruce Springsteen)

Where the road is dark and the seed is sowed
Where the gun is cocked and the bullet's cold
Where the miles are marked in the blood and gold
I'll meet you further on up the road

Got on my dead man's suit and my smilin' skull ring
My lucky graveyard boots and song to sing
I got a song to sing, keep me out of the cold
And I'll meet you further on up the road.

Further on up the road
Further on up the road
Where the way dark and the night is cold
One sunny mornin' we'll rise I know
And I'll meet you further on up the road.

Now I been out in the desert, just doin' my time
Searchin' through the dust, lookin' for a sign
If there's a light up ahead well brother I don't know
But I got this fever burnin' in my soul
So let's take the good times as they go
And I'll meet you further on up the road

Further on up the road
Further on up the road
Further on up the road
Further on up the road

One sunny mornin' we'll rise I know
And I'll meet you further on up the road
One sunny mornin' we'll rise I know
And I'll meet you further on up the road.

My Interpretation:anyone who looks at these lyrics, pay absolutely no attention to the interpretation i'm about to give haha...

but this song makes me think of someone i got close to recently who means a lot to me, but could only remain a part of my life for a fairly short amount of time... we just got to know each other at a really bad time and the circumstances were all wrong for us. "Where the road is dark and the seed is sowed"... what we did was dark and the seeds we sowed were bad, at least for now... but... maybe during the time we spent together, we sowed seeds that will one day turn into something good?

"Where the miles are marked in the blood and gold" it was bittersweet though. i don't regret a moment of it, even if it was wrong...

"Now I been out in the desert, just doin' my time
Searchin' through the dust, lookin' for a sign"
this represents how hard it is on me being away from him (almost like doing jailtime) and how i keep looking for reasons why we could/should be together, but there just aren't any logical reasons right now so i refrain. also, looking for signs that he hasn't completely given up on me... but i think he finally has begun to, because of all i've put him through... and searching for signs that he feels something similar for me to what i feel for him

"So let's take the good times as they go
And I'll meet you further on up the road" how i've felt throughout this whole ordeal... i was just living day by day and enjoying each moment spent in his arms and each memory created, trying not to worry about the repercussions of our actions... because it all felt right in its obvious wrongness and just completely worth it... but at the same time, in the back of mind i was constantly wondering about what might happen...

so we may not be right for each other right now, but i'm convinced that one day we'll cross paths again and i won't be forced to end things so badly next time. "One sunny mornin' we'll rise I know
And I'll meet you further on up the road" one day...
