This brings us up to date. The reason why I'm here. Well, it's not long after we moved.
It's about three months. We found out we were gonna have a baby. Unfortunately, not by choice.
It, just happened. And I have no idea what to do. We don't have any money. We don't have much space.
We're 18 and on our own. You know? I came out here to get away, have a fresh start.
This makes it hard...
You haven't said anything in a while...
You're not even listening.

Yes I am.
Go ahead and sell me more.
Oh yes, I love to hear every word you say.
So let it out, don't let it stay.
Cause that's what kills and that's what hurts;
When you're stuck inside and you can't get out.
But here's what's worse:
When you have to lie 'cause you're stuck inside this shallow mind.
That won't see himself for what he is.
The truth behind what he gives to the world and himself
And what he thinks he is.
You can hurt anyone cause you only give.
Oh, that's you.

Not that's not me and I never said it was. I bet you're saying this because you probably did the same thing with me.

Oddly enough, I'm on my way.
Now see, it's natural to assume the worst when you're raised to only trust yourself.
But I must agree, you should know that you have been quite wrong.
Your dad is right, it's not his fault.
You only see what you need to see to feel worse for your sorry life.
Not to fix it, but to only hide behind walls you put up.
So continue feeling bad for yourself, it's not your fault it's everyone else.
There's one thing you fail to see.
You're a man, you're your fathers son.
You both decided it was best to run
And now you're stuck being him.
So forget the plans you had for life,
It's time to learn it's time for people to try to look at things for what they are.
And not the best story line.
The best story line, the best story line.
The best story line, the best story line.
The best story line.

Hi my name is Dean, I grew up in a small suburb town about 40 miles from the city.
It's a small place but people have the biggest mouths. It's the kind of place where people care more about your stories
Than what you actually are. I guess it kinda make sense now when I look at myself.

General CommentYes. As the story goes along.. especially in the last song, you're lead to realize that there is no patient/psych having this talk. It's "Dean" talking to himself, doctoring himself.

I think this part is genius, because it's not just shown in the dialogue, but also enforced through the music. As you notice in the song, there are more split/layered voices (or at least more prevalant) than the rest of the cd, especially during the lines "the best storyline" ... when the contrasting tones mesh into one. Im pretty sure this was done on purpose, it supports the idea so well.

Then, at the end, it starts out with Ace (the psych) introducing himself as Dean (the patient) as the voices slowly transform from Ace's into Dean's.

General Commentyeah well dean grew up hating his dad because of what he did, which was quite selfish. however, dean is only fulfilling the circle by continuing to hate his dad and not being able to get over it. i feel this is what this song is all about. its a kind of weird ending to a cd like this because the thing i was always wondering is what happens to the baby, wonder if he keeps it and raises it or runs away like his parents. i like to think the end of the song is advice his dad is giving him, which ultimately helps him and he keeps the kid. if you look at the story every generation got a little closer to their child they didn't want, so maybe this breaks the running and he finally takes account for his actions. the end with dean talking explains why he is this way, why he bulds walls up and doesn't trust anyone. also kinda why he doesn't know who he is. the town he lives in was filled with rich people who cared about stories rather than who you are. so he held on to this story and defined himself through that instead of trying to get past it. we are all a result of our environment. awesome, i just can't believe ace redid the story like 9 times and came up with this awesome ending. but then again, wonder what the other stories were like, haha...peace out ya'll

General CommentThe clincher of the three disks. Damn is it good.

Being a musician myself, i am dumbstruck by how amazing ace made these cd's. And to think, i bought them all for only $9.99.

The meanings are clear by the end. This CD showed me yet another perspective to life. You try to run from your past but you just become it. Perhaps this will happen to all of us? Time will tell that story.

Great Band, AMAZING albums, and this song, this song just makes it all worth while in the end :)

General Commentso this song, being the finale to the story the third disc conveyed, made me cry the first time i heard it.
the only way to get the full effect is to listen to the cd the whole way through so you can hear the story leading to this ending.

    it is absolutely brilliant.
