Starting now the wait is over
As long as you jump the ride
'Cause I won't highway-walk forever
As long as you jump the ride

As long as you follow me
This is what I do, like I do
I've been on the ride before
It never stops at all
It never stops at all

You'll start your engines like a virgin
As long as you jump the ride
We'll cut the whip and lose the anchor
As long as you jump the ride

As long as you follow me
This is what I do, like I do
I've been on the ride before
It never stops at all
It never stops at all

As long as you follow me
This is what I do, like I do
I've been on the ride before
It never stops at all
It never stops at all

Don't you feel for us?
That we're on the round and round?
Don't you hear the endless motor sound?

As long as you follow me
This is what I do, like I do
I've been on the ride before
It never stops at all
It never stops at all
Never stops at all

i like this song, but i'm not really sure what the lyricist intended. i imagine it deals with the pain of being trapped in a bad relationship, where the same problems keep coming up over and over. there's enough emotion in the song that that loose interpretation is enough to get me listening to it on repeat.

I was at a Joan as Police Woman concert (Summer 2007) and she commented before she performed this song that when she wrote it, it was about Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown. But then she saw just a few seconds of the "reality tv show" featuring the couple, so now it's officially "not about them!"

Wow, this song is so beautiful. I can't believe more people haven't commented on it.

I interpret the lyrics as when you're starting to know a guy you like a lot and you know he's someone you could easily fall in love with. You know he does like you but you're not sure if he wants to get involved in a relationship. You're talking straight with him, about what you want, and that it might not be easy, but at the same time (especially in the third paragraph) you're kinda trying to convince him to do it. The ride is in my opinion the relationship.

starting now the wait is over (it's like you've been alone for so long, or maybe with somebody but not the person or the kind of relationship you really wanted) as long as you jump the ride (but that relationship it's of course conditioned to the other person also wanting it)

as long as you follow me this is what i do, like i do i've been on the ride before it never stops at all (my life is complicated, are you willing to accept me? i know for experience, relationships are difficult, are you willing to endure all that?)

you'll start your engines like a virgin(of course, at the beginning everything's new and exciting) as long as you jump the ride we'll cut the whip and lose the anchor (if you do decide to start the relationship with me, we'll both let go our restraints and inhibitions and be freely together ) as long as you jump the ride

This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
