Nothing can come close
Nothing can come close
Nothing can come close

I never doubted it
Whats for you will not pass you by
I never questioned it
It was decided before I asked why
Its all there ever was
And its all there ever will be
How could you have questioned us?
Its yourself you deceive

Nothing can come close
To this familiar feeling
We say it all without
Ever speaking

Nothing can come close
To this familiar feeling
We say it all without
Ever speaking

Nothing can come close
To this familiar feeling
We say it all without
Ever speaking

Nothing can come close
To this familiar feeling
We say it all without

Hush now
No need to say the words
At first sight you perfectly heard
Love in all its entirety
Is no less than we deserve

I saw, your face
Some place
I felt this feeling before
Is it deja vu?
Do I somehow know you?

Nothing can come close
To this familiar feeling
We say it all without
Ever speaking

Nothing can come close
To this familiar feeling
We say it all without
Ever speaking

Nothing can come close
To this familiar feeling
We say it all without
Ever speaking

Nothing can come close
To this familiar feeling
We say it all without

Nothing can come close
To this familiar feeling
We say it all without
Ever speaking

Nothing can come close
To this familiar feeling
We say it all without
Ever speaking

Nothing can come close

Nothing can come close

(ever speaking)

Nothing can come close
To this familiar feeling
Nothing can come close

General CommentIt is about a predestinated relationship and the point that the special thing it has is more important than the result.

General CommentI was paranoid about this song as I worry about psychics and nonsense within my schizophrenia but I can see its a love song now. Hasnt she got the most addictive singing style. Im thinking of stuff like.."shing it back, shing it back, shing it back'a'maw!" and "shcooby dooby, where would you be, bow wow wow wow!" sexy vocal talent that she is. Check them live. youtube.com/…

My InterpretationFor me the chords, melody and words chosen in this song give me the sense that is has a sad core. As if the relationship has just ended. She is still convinced that they are meant to be together, they've spend so much time together and are connected and he is breaking it up. And her conclusion is that nothing can come close to that what they had and shared. This is how I interpreted it anyway.

    Beautiful, beautiful.

General CommentI agree with Stickysen above, but maybe it's not from her perspective? Or only partly. I don't think all of the lyrics have to come from Roisin's POV.

All of Statues is sad, really. They had to make it even after they broke up, and that's really amazing to me. It makes me sad that they couldn't continue to work professionally together, but that's really not my place to judge. This song is probably the one that expresses the sadness the best out of all of them, not because it's the saddest, but because it has this little bit of joy - this familiar feeling - mixed in that makes the unhappiness more pronounced.

I think everyone knows the feeling of lost closeness when a couple breaks up. Especially for the party that didn't initiate the break-up, it's harder to deal with. Suddenly, it's either gone, or still there, but more awkward, and you have to deny it until it goes away completely. This song does feel almost like an argument for re-starting a relationship, but at the same time, it's like she's saying, Things will be the way they will be:-
    "I never doubted it
What's for you will not pass you by"
    and
    "It's all there ever was
And it's all there ever will be"
so even if the relationship's gone, that's the way things should be. She realises this, but the familiar feeling persists.
