"stay" as written by and Brian Kelly Mcknight....
Find the man you want,
He's got all you need and more,
When I go South again,
Hell be waiting at your door.

And when you breathe that way,
Because you want me to stay up,
Count the lipstick stains,
That you get on all my cups.

And when the right time comes,
Ill be what you've grown to hate,
Like your high school crush,
Made you pass your papers in late.

Well you can stay if you want to,
But you can't sleep in my bed,
Yeah you can stay if you want to,
But you can't sleep in my bed.

General Commenti think this song is talking about a guy who likes a girl more than she likes him, and i think he knows that eventually she'll leave him. he's trying to protect himself (you can't slee in my bed) without being mean to her (well you can stay if you want to).

General CommentHoly CRAP, I love this song. It's so uber-catchy, it's impossible not to like it. It's the kind of song that makes me get up and bust dance moves everywhere. When I hear this song, my whole day seems brighter.

"Yeah you can stay if you waaaant to, but you can't sleep in my bed..." Do-do-do-de-do-de-do-do.

General CommentI don't know, i sort of thought the opposite. That this girl has a crush on him, and he almost takes advantage of that. He knows someday she'll find someone that's actually right for her and she'll look back and realize how he wasn't nice to her and how she was stupid for wasting her time with him. No matter how you see it, it's an amazing song, I love this band and the way they compose their music is amazing.

General CommentI agree with dendro, I think it's about a guy that's with a girl that really likes him and he knows that she'll get over it eventually, but for the meantime he just goes along with it. And he obviously doesn't treat her that nicely, obviously apathetic if she stays over..his only remark on the subject is that she can't sleep in his bed. I love the line about the high school crush. Eventually she'll look back on him as just a problem..just the reason she was so caught up in "love" that she didn't do her school work.

General CommentI disagree with all of you guys. I think he's scared. Of letting her into his life. He knows how much the situation is not perfect because she's not into him really, just using him for something (and when the right times comes...), on the flip-- he knows how attached he could get. And even though he tries to detach himself from the situation (Well, you can stay if you want to...but you can't sleep in my bed), he knows that when it comes down to it he wants her to be with him (stay, oh, please, stay...). Only reaffirming the situation, he says "Find the man you want, he's got all you need and more" suggesting that maybe she isn't really into him and he's only there at the moment (And when the right time comes, I'll be what you've grown to hate, 'Like' your high school crush, Made you pass your papers in late.).
