"Salmarnir" as written by and Timothy/gillespie Mctague....
The mighty one, God the Lord,
Speaks and summons the earth from the rising of the sun to the place where it sets.
Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty, God shines forth.

Our God comes and does not keep silent, a devouring fire is before him,
And a mighty tempest all around him.

Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty, God shines forth.
He calls to the heavens above and to the earth, that he may judge his people

"Gather to me my faithful ones, who made a covenant with me by sacrifice!"
The heavens declare his righteousness, for God himself is judge.

    General CommentFrom musicfaith.com/profiles/interviews/…:

Music Faith (interveiwer): A lot of people ask me about the song Salmarnir. What language is being spoken and what is the translation?
Grant Brandell (bass): Salmarnir is ice-landic for the word Psalm. The spoken dialogue is actually Psalm 50 in Russian, and then yelled in the background in English by Chris.

To clarify what thisapparatus69 has said, here are some quotes i have compiled about the Underoath-Christianity issue.

    from punktv.ca/ :

Aaron Gillespie (drums, vocals): "We're definitely a Christian band..."

Grant Brandell (bass): "I [grew up as] a Christian and wanted to play music and that just inspired me to take the talent that God has given me and use it for Him."

    When asked about their success-
    "Grant: "It's all God"

    From gauntlet.ucalgary.ca/story/…:

Christopher Dudley (keyboards): We definitely don't ever want to have it be in question what we're about, we're Christians, we're a Christian band, and that's why we're here. We also talk from stage about it."

    Underoath's website is "underoath777.com", "7" being the Lord's number.

Unfortunately I was unable to find any information regarding Underoath taking drugs, and I do not believe this to be true at all.

I hope that this has helped to clear up what has been previously said about the band.

General CommentIt's Psalm 50 being spoken in Icelandic (or Russian) by an old friend of Chris' (the keyboardist) and then Chris yelling the English version in the background.

And to the person who said that we should make a big deal out of pot, since God made it....yes, he did make it. He made the marijuana plant to be used for medical purposes, not to be abused. He also made the sun because we need it to live....does that mean you should go touch it?

General Commenthey boys and girls. Easy on the burning. Rebuke in love. Underoath say at every concert that they are followers of Christ and are devoted to God but just as important is that they love the non believers and FYourGod all the same. But in defense Im wondring whether FYG would feel the same if a druggie killed someone he loved for the money to support their addiction. Lets be honest it doesnt always end at pot.

    General CommentI like this song.
it has a very end-of-the-world appeal.
like screaming out the bible. like a big riot.
    who knows.

General CommentI figured it was Russian. I was listening to this song with my headphones on the other day and I could really hear the yelling part and it made me wonder what was being yelled along with the main spoken part.

About marijuana being ok because it's God's creation...that's absurd and ill-conceived. I don't think God intended for us to roll it up and smoke it. Not to mention it opens the door to even more serious addictions. As a Christian you have to refrain from anything that can get between you and God, whether it be drugs, alcohol, hobbies, TV, even wives/husbands (read 1 Corinthians 7). Distractions come in many forms.

General Commentgetting caught up in drugs has nothing to do with whether you are a christian or not. i can't believe some people.

anyways. drugs have nothing to do with this song. i don't think this song was just filler like i hear a lot from people. i really like chris' yelling in the background. i guess i just wanted to share if anyone cares that the bible translation chris is reciting is niv. i was curious and figured it out so yeah in case anyone else is curious also.

i think even if you aren't a christian you could appreciate this band simply for following what they believe in. for making such amazing music. for speaking so boldly and honestly about themselves. spencer's lyrics are some of the most soul baring lyrics ever... christians and non christians alike prove nothing by acting out in a fit of rage just because someone believes something different than them.

General Commenthello, i am from russia and underoath is one of my favorite bands. i was very surprised when i heard this song because i don't know why they used russian.. maybe because our country is the centre of artheodox (greece, serbia, please don't be disagree).. but i completely can't understand why the pronounciation of that guy who spoke rusian is so bad.. he really spokes bad! it's sounds like he isn't russian.. i think many russian or soviet people live in the usa and they can speak much better..

General Comment50:1 The mighty God, even the Lord, hath spoken, and called the earth from the rising of the sun unto the going down thereof.

50:2 Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty, God hath shined.

50:3 Our God shall come, and shall not keep silence; a fire shall devour before him, and it shall be very tempestuous round about him.

50:4 He shall call to the heavens from above, and to the earth, that he may judge his people.

5:5 Gather my saints together unto me; those that have made a covenant with me by sacrifice.

50:6 And the heavens shall declare his righteousness, FOR GOD HIMSELF IS JUDGE.

General CommentThe lyrics I posted here are the words of the soft-spoken man who comes into the song first. Does anyone know what the other guy, apparently screaming to a crowd, is saying?

General Commentafter messing around with my speakers on my computer to find out what the guy is yelling to the crowd, i have determined it is the pslam being recited in english. it isn't the exact version as Sarahhhcoota's submition, but it is the same thing.

some of the words aren't the same, but they're virtually the same thing.
