Never give up loving
Unless you have to
Never give up loving
Unless you must
'Cause it will haunt you
In the future
Will try to crawl into your bed at night

Oooooh, ooh

Never leave your lover
Unless he makes you
By being cold and awful mean
Even then you'll probably
Always miss him
He will visit in your dreams

Oooooh
Oooooh
Ooh, ooh, oh
Oooooh

Names and dates and faces
Places you were happy
I'll never fall, never fall like that again
I'll never fall, never fall like that again
Oh, I'll never fall
Never fall like that again
Oh

Names and dates and faces
Places you were happy
I'll never fall, never fall like that again
Oh, I'll never fall
Never fall like that again
Oh, I'll never fall
Never fall like that again

Oooooh
Ooooh
Oooh

Never give up loving
Unless you have to
Never leave your lover
Unless you must
'Cause it will haunt your empty heart forever
'Til your body turns to dust

I want you, ooh
I want you, ooh-ooh-ooh
I want you, ooh
Ooooh
Ooh
Oooooh
Ooh

I've been slowly collecting Regina songs like this one, (that aren't available on cd.... And I FINALLY got this one. I had seen and read the lyrics before I got a hold of it though, so I was quite surprised at how upbeat the song sounds. I had imagined it to be quite slow and sad, something along the lines of Samson or Genuis Next Door or Blue Lips... Maybe that's her way of putting her tounge-in-cheek....

I really think that the lyrics are so moving though....

This song is so beautiful. I think the message is something like, don't make stupid mistakes. Such a gorgeous song!

I love this song. It's saying that you shouldn't do something you think you might regret, like leaving someone, especially someone whom you fell for really hard.

I dont think its so much not to break up with them, just that it will be hard. "he makes you by being cold and awful mean" - its something that must be done, even though you know you love them and that they will forever haunt you. Beautiful song, I saw her live last week and I wish she'd played it... check out "silly eye colour generalization" though, she played it then and twas wonderful!

I don't think it's necessarily saying you shouldn't leave someone. Leaving someone is inevitable. I feel like this song is about the first time you ever fall in love with someone in particular. "I'll never fall like that again." Yeah you'll fall in love again, but it'll never be the same as that first time. Also, names and dates and faces, places you were happy-- it's like when you go back to places that you went with them you'll always be reminded of them. And certain dates will have the same effect too. It's just such a wonderful song. All the lyrics are really simple and straightforward and it just...comes together perfectly.

i believe this song is saying never rush to try and get over your love, unless you absolutely have to, because if you try to rush out of it it'll come back and bite you in the ass. They will then continue to haunt you becuase your love for them never really went away, you just forced it to the side.

"'Cause he will haunt your empty heart forever 'Til your body turns to dust"

and then you'll never be able to love another in the same way again.

    I just love this song,

    it's just about forgiving,

&not leaving someone, unless it's necessary

because all the what if's will haunt you

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."
