I am so high. I can hear heaven.
I am so high. I can hear heaven.
No heaven, no heaven dont hear me.

And they say that a hero can save us.
Im not gonna stand here and wait.
I'll hold onto the wings of the eagles.
Watch as they all fly away.

Someone told me love will all save us.
But how can that be, look what love gave us.
A world full of killing, and blood-spilling
That world never came.

And they say that a hero can save us.
Im not gonna stand here and wait.
I'll hold onto the wings of the eagles.
Watch as they all fly away.

Now that the world isn't ending
It's love that I'm sending to you.
It isn't the love of a hero
And that's why I fear it won't do.

And they say that a hero can save us.
I'm not gonna stand here and wait.
I'll hold onto the wings of the eagles.
Watch as they all fly away.

And they're watching us
(Watching Us)
As they all fly away.

I think that this song is about someone who has had their beliefe in love shattered. They used to believe that with love you could be saved, but now believe that love causes much more pain then it is worth.

"Now that the world isn't ending, it's love that I'm sending to you"

There is some kind of learned REALISM here. The singer expected a dramatic, heroic DELIVERANCE or SALVATION of some kind. That did not come. So he has to accept the world as it is -- undramatic, unheroic, and full of bad as well as good.

Was this song written FOR Spiderman? It's basically perfect for describing Spiderman's coming of age.

I love this song like all the bad in the world can be changed by love but only if we trust in it

first off, i think anyone dissing this song is an idiot. this is about discussing the meaning of the song.

so, I think this song means that too many people are standing around, waiting for a hero. if you want more love in the world, you have to give it yourself.

"Now that the world isnt ending, its love that Im sending to you. It isnt the love of a hero, and thcts why I fear it wont do. "

i think this verse is saying that one person's love isnt enough and its challenging the listeners to send out love.

    but watever

I agree more with white_stone_3... It's about someone who wants to change the world by love. Someone who can't watch anymore, who wants to do something...

ok you guys do know that Nickelback did not write this song, Chad Kroeger did. They were just doing a cover of it. If you want to hear a really good cover of it listen to Lukas Rossi's version.

I am so high. I can hear heaven. I am so high/ I can hear heaven. No heaven, no heaven dont hear me>

talking about how one can feel its possible to be with someone or "heaven" but "heaven" doesnt want to be with them.

And they say that a hero can save us. Im not gonna stand here and wait. I'll hold onto the wings of the eagles. Watch as they all fly away. holding on to a certain someone that leaves in the end

Someone told me love will all save us. But how can that be, look what love gave us. A world full of killing, and blood-spilling That world never came. looking back in remorse of the person leaving and realizing that love had fooled them once more

And they say that a hero can save us. Im not gonna stand here and wait. I'll hold onto the wings of the eagles. Watch as they all fly away. once again speaking of holding onto someone that leaves in the end

Now that the world isnt ending, its love that Im sending to you. It isnt the love of a hero, and thats why I fear it wont do. talking about why he thinks the person may have left

And they say that a hero can save us. Io not gonna stand here and wait. I'll hold onto the wings of the eagles. Watch as they all fly away. and again talking about holding onto something that leaves in the end

And they're"watching us (Watching Us) As they all fly away. *possibly talking about how "heaven" feels awkward about him when "heaven" realizes how he felt and leaves because of it"

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
