Flee today with me and we can hide
Until they want you
Where the strange creatures play
Mystic games of strength, disassociate

Seal my fate.
Seal my, seal your
Until they eat their own young

This is a lonely war tonight
And I'm forsaken
Are you a lonely one, too?
Oh!
This is a lonely war tonight
We're soldiers waking
They were the lonely ones, too

Leave your stain
And love my wounds tonight
Leave like they all do.
Where the strange creatures play
Endless games of fate with a reprobate

Seal our fate.
Seal our, seal your
'Til we eat our own young

This is a lonely war tonight
And I'm forsaken
Are you a lonely one, too?
This is a lonely war tonight
We're soldiers waking
They were the lonely ones, too

This is a lonely war tonight
And I'm forsaken
Are you a lonely one, too?
This is a lonely war tonight
We're soldiers waking
They were the lonely ones, too

This is a lonely war tonight
And I'm forsaken
Are you a lonely one, too?
Are you a lonely one, too?
(Soldiers breaking...)
Are you a lonely one, too?

B-Side from DECEMBERUNDERGROUND. Great song, though I'm not digging the whole 'Eat our own young' lines.

The meaning that comes across to me has the theme of sobriety and a dying society.

A ‘lonely war’ is spoken of throughout the song this is the war of choice. Choosing to indulge in substances to solve problems or staying sober and confronting the problems you’re faced with. In the song this is a losing battle, the line ‘untill we eat our own young’ is basically stating that we’re slowly becoming animals and there is no hope for the future.

I’m not saying that there is only one meaning this is just what it means to me.

I agree much with Koll, not putting offense to anyone else who has commented on this song. I ADORE this song, and I love the lyrics. I agree that someone (Davey, I guess you could say) wants to have one last thrill with someone and let them be who they want to be before they are taken away by savages. I agree with the fact that the "lonely wars" are afflictions with themselves that they are trying to overcome, and their "fates" which like Koll said are the futures of them becoming vicious animals are going to be forgotten for the moment so they can enjoy what's left of their freedom. Also, I MAY be wrong, but I believe that the lyrics are: "Where the strange creatures play in mystic caves of strange, disassociate"...it may not make sense, but that's what I find from the majority of lyric sights. AND: "The soldier's waking" not "We're..."
If someone is completely positive of the lyrics, could you please inform me of them by posting them? Thank you.

    Consider the title.

    Brilliant, brilliant song.

I'm not really sure what is it about, but I guess Koll and celestialdream could be right...

And I think the lyrics are right.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
