"Body Snatcher" as written by and Billy Idol....
Full moon glow
Steals the light
When headless horsemen ride
In the distance hell hounds cry
And banshee wails arise
Turn your fear into fantasy
Concealing all the pain
You the victim of perfection
The dark side gets its way
The dark side gets its way

Ain't no use singing the blues
Ain't to one finding no clues
And you can't walk away
No stopping, no escape

[Chorus:]

Tired eyes you cannot fight
The body snatcher comes tonight
Wired mind embraced the sight
The body snatcher comes tonight

Creeping shadows cross the walls
What are they trying to say?
Lucy Love died in this place
I've come to take you away
Turn the spirit when you sleep
And leave an empty space
I'm the demon of destruction
The gods have now been swayed
The gods have now been swayed

Ain't no use singing the blues
Ain't no one finding no clues
And you can't walk away
No stopping, no escape

Well you cannot run you cannot hide
'Cause evil has its dark design
You cannot run you cannot hide
'Cause evil has its dark design

I have reason to believe
There's power in the signs
Look she turns ghostly grey
The dark one has arrived

Well you cannot run you cannot hide
'Cause evil has its dark design

The body snatcher comes tonight
Yeah yeah yeah

Yeah you cannot run you cannot hide

'Cause evil has its dark design

The body snatcher comes tonight

Ain't to use singing the blues
Ain't no one finding no clues
And you can't walk away
No stopping, no escape

General CommentWhat I have seen in this song is that basically every line relates to Celtic Mythology. Some are more loose, such as reading the signs or the full moon's glow stealing the light. Technically those could be related to other things. Then there are terms like "Headless Horseman" which is just another name for the Dubhlachan (Dullahan), who was created by Crom to hunt down select people (Catholics) in Ireland. Crom is mentioned himself, Crom's name means "The Dark One" or "The Dark Bent One". Banshees are harbringers, messangers of death from Celtic Folklore. The line "The Gods have now been swayed" is also specific in Celtic Mythology. The lable "Demon of Destruction" was a common term for The Morrigan among crusaders. This may not have been the intention, perhaps he was just specifically liking of celtic folklore, but the song actually makes sense in celtic religious belief. That is one of the reasons that I am so fodn of it. Anyhow, the Celtic influence in the song cannot be denied.

General CommentThe-Dullahan is right. I think Mr. Idol just wanted to have a lot of fun writing a song, so he threw mythology and fantasy into it. Humans have a need for enchantment that they satisfy with things like religion, reading, movies, etc. Mr. Idol did it here with music. This is a freaking AWESOME song! The way he sings it, you can tell he feels so free.
