Strong man
Shotgun in his hand
Like rainbows
Broken by the glass
Always
You take me back home
And I stumble like a dead man
Runnin on his last breath
Rain rain

And the first time
You play me like a fool
You make me wanna
Rain rain out
Why did you go
All the way inside my head
And take away control
I believed every word you said
But only to find
It was all a lie, baby

I screwed up
Can’t get back to wait on my way
Rain on
Like a bitter, evil kid
The first time
I thought that I was in
Heaven

Heaven
The first time
I thought that I was in
Heaven
Like a shotgun
Blew away my head
That’s what it sounded like
Stumble like a nearly dead man
You make me
Cause I screwed up

this song reminds me so much of proudest monkey. its a lot different then most of the other new stuff that the band is debuting this tour, like sister, kill the king and idea of you.

What's the point of putting this lyric up? The song isn't finished yet. The words will change until they're finalized.

A better place for these would be this site: dmbalmanac.com/

we all want the truth of God (the rainbow seen in the glass) but we recieve it in our own timing. sometimes we receive first the error of the message only to pine after the real truth later...Balaam was a greedy family of priest longing after the powers of God only to become the evil magicians seen in our past..even today they are representing the apostate christian church. people rushing around demanding God be preached inside all our ears...invading our brains many times before we understand what is the real truth...we hear them..."your going to hell if you dont follow us"...Youve got free will..choose how your fate will end up. your in control..choose our way..its the best way!".

shotgun is representing erronious ideas about God and his relationship with man that are being blasted inside our brains by force..the very erronious ideas of God belived by the antichrists of our day. the balaams who wants to kill the christ child within us before its presence on earth..

afterwards we just feel violated..but still pine after the truth..isnt there another song of a stumbling leader thats got us all going round? its the same guy. (dreams of our fathers)

This song is about betrayal of a friend, bofriend or girlfriens, clearly he indiactes that he F'd up, someone took him back again and again but was only playing him like a fool, screwing with his mind, this person has control of him, knows his weaknesses and plays on them, "why did you go all all the way inside my head and take control, I belived every word you said" Its almost like a drug, once you get a little taste you need a bit more, and more and more, even though you know that it is destructive..... like a bitter evil king(not kid) the first time, I thought that I was in heaven....and you woke up to realize, like a shotgun in the head. F'ing great song!!!! Dave needs to play it more in concert, only played twice in his '06 summer tour.

he actually played this a dozen times over the summer tough. i've got this version of the song along with the last time he played it on the tour, and also a couple in between. its amazing listening to how the song progresses each time its played. i love this version the most though, its so simple.

i see this song as some guy experiencing his first love, and being used and manipulated to know end. finally he realizes that he f'd up, wised up, and left.

the "shotgun" is both the pain of letting go, and the wakeup.

Me2, seriously. Enough with the religious psycho-babble.

Dave doesn't not think about "God" that much when he writes. Bottom line: He's agnostic and you're insane.

all of you guys are fricken retarded. this song is clearly about when his sister was shot in the head by her husband in 1994. Me2 was kind of right when they talked about god because Dave Matthews has always been pissed at god for letting something like that happen. if you listen closely to some of his rages during his concerts, you can kind of hear a little bit of him basically cussing out god.

not only is this song a direct depiction of that and his feelings toward it, but also songs such as The Stone and a little bit of Sister. i dont mean to rant and rave, but i was getting kind of annoyed while i was reading all of these.

Last night at PGP the boys played this song, I've heard many versions, but lastnight seemed to be the best, most complete, album ready version yet. I swear part of the lyrics were:

"a shotgun is for putting in your mouth when the world seems upside down and spraying patterns on the wall"

    I could be mistaken

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

Little Feat
Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.

There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
